EDR Targeted Bonus Point Promotions

Mrs Albatross is convinced and can demonstrate that the meat is better from Coles than from WOW. She buys most grocery items at WOW but then goes to Coles to buy the meat.

I agree. The meat/chicken l purchased from Coles was miles in front to WOW. I'm even thinking of dropping WOW meat purchases altogether.

OT: For years we have had a Safeway (now Woolworths) close to home. Late last year a Coles opend across the road. Funnily enough we have noticed an immediate, significant and ongoing improvement in the meat quality from the Woolworths since.

I find the meat discussion interesting, a significant portion of the meat is now prepacked offsite, I suspect from the same facility regardless of the supermarket given the contraction in processing plants etc. I rarely buy meat at any supermarket, when I do I am rarely satisfied with the quality.

I filled the car up with petrol yesterday at my Woolies servo using a 12 cents discount offer and I take the FF points.
I thought afterwards what would happen if I bought a product from the servo to get the additional 4 cents discount. (4 cents + 4 cents = 8 cents promo)
Do I get:
- an additional 2 cents ( half the offer as I take FF points) towards my litres purchased. Thus giving me 8 X litres = ff points

- 4 cents off on the spot

- nothing, as I opted for the FF points and therefore am not getting a cash discount in store and thus can't receive the additional 4 cents discount.

I know I can try it next time I fill up but I thought members may have an answer for me before then.

The black pudding you can get at Woolies is surprisingly good… but then that might not exactly be meat :p

Last I heard I believe you’d get nothing, well, not the additional point or discount. Probably hasn’t been tried in a while, so please tell us how it goes, but I recall it not working the way you’d hope it to work…

Well from my shopping last night and today of $83 at Big W, $33 at BWS and $115 at WW I’ve managed to rack up just over 1000 (134 from regular shopping + 500 trifecta bonus + 250 Big W bonus + 150 WW bonus) points total, and I didn't buy anything I didn’t want/need.

Nicely done samh004 :D (is there an echo on AFF tonight)?

Haven't done my weekly shopping yet, not as many bonus points on offer this week for me (250+100).

nothing - unless things have change din the last few months

Has anybody experienced a writeback of bonus points if you return goods that were subject to a bonus offer?

Would appear that I have nappies (Woolies) and a HDMI cable (Big W) that are superfluous to the needs of my family. Of course, I have the receipts ;)
I have returned goods, and received a refund, and have not had a writeback of points. Unfortunately these were not specific bonus points but all the same I still received the points I should have received.

I am not sure of the relationship between purchased receipts and returned receipts but just make sure that you do not swipe your card when returning goods. ;)

I've been getting a reasonable number of offers lately either on my card or the partner's. All of these have been for shopping at wooworths which I do every week and the limits they set are easy enough for me to reach.

I am considering trying woolworths online. Does anyone know if I have a bonus that is spend $x get y points in Woolworths if that triggers with online shopping? Or do they specifically mention online in your offer online is included.

Thanks

C

The email will usually say something like "Offer available in–store and online at any Woolworths supermarket" in the section at the bottom "Things to note for your exclusive offer".

Well, I successfully returned an unopened box of Huggies nappies to another Woolies store (from the one I purchased it), which the service girl said normally doesn't happen due to H&S issues. I think the fact that it was unopened and the fact that I was in a tie helped. Credited to Amex but no EDR card requested so no writeback of bonus points.

Picked up my daughters 100 bonus points on her card this morning - all required purchases. 60 Amex and (100+30) EDR points, easy :D

Now to do a return to Big W on my way home (HDMI cable) and pick up my 250 bonus points there buying something else. Net spend -$15, bonus points on purchase and expect no writeback of points from the return of cable ;)

My understanding is no, as online was excluded (as it is dispatched from their distribution centre, not a Woolies shop). Certainly none of mine ever worked.

Previously, I also had the reverse issue and contacted EDR. IIRC, whilst online does give you EDR points on the purchases (as my wife had my EDR number saved in the tranactions), it didn't trigger for EDR offers. I took some purchases away from online so my offers would start flowing - lo and behold, now getting multiple ones regularly for my account.

Thanks samh004 and Lindsay for that advice. I suspected that if online was included they would have said so. If I have a week without offers, as happens from time to time, I might do an online shop to see if that triggers anything for the online store.

More likely, a single week with no offers may have more to do with their marketing plans and selection of EDR members from the pool. I doubt an online shop is going to help trigger EDR offers - rather the opposite. It didn't work for me, that was one of the reasons we were so late onto the EDR bandwagon (because it was only the ocassional BWS purchase that helped me get an offer - now I am shopping regularly at Big W, Woolies, BWS and even DSE with my offers up dramatically - almost every week now and sometimes 2 offers). Add to that, 3 other family members with EDR cards and shopping ;) [even if they are chocolate bars]

 Why is it that bonus offers don't post at the same time

I queried the same thing with Woolies and got the following reply:

If you have received the offer and are eligible for the bonus, your bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points will appear in your Everyday Rewards account up to 7 days after the advertised promotion end date

Return done of my HDMI cable and CC credited $49.94 but no scan of EDR card. Shopping was $36 with my EDR card scanned. 250 bonus + 6 standard + 49 CC points, with -73 on CC for return.

So overall -$14 for +232 points. What a great deal ;)
