Didn't OLCI but got the wonderful double red beep at the gate and op-up'd Y -> J on EK418 BKK-SYD. Happy camper!

After about 20 flights across the dutch in the last couple of years i just received my first op up at the counter Mel - Akl (Y-J) Guess i will have to find something else to winge about when flying EK :)

I had OLCI then early bag drop at SIN for MEL flight on Sunday (as my travelling companion was flying on QF metal via SYD and leaving earlier than me). Joined the queue for security at the gate with a sinking feeling as the flight looked chockers and was resigned to a less than wonderful flight. Oh joy, what raptures, boarding pass scanned then replaced with 9F. Happy gal here. Only time I have flown EK metal on QF code.

For those of you wanting to watch for an op-up on EK, you can keep an eye on OLCI on the EK site. You will see your seat change when they process an op-up. If by boarding you still show your original seat on EK OLCI then it's not very likely that you'll get an op-up.

Now you know why we love Emirates Dame? They sure look after QFF wherever possible.
Welcome back and where is the TR. (and check out the Anthem of the Seas current adventure on CC - link posted in the Aussie area).

Will pass on the TR this time Pushka; a very unadventurous few days away. The only thing of note is that I seem to have picked up kennel cough!
Flight over on QF Y was uneventful; ship was OK, didn't do much, berthing at the industrial ports 2 hours out of the cities is a real pain; a couple of days in Singapore at the end was pleasant (helped on by Intercontinental club of course).
Op up on return journey was great though I didn't finish dinner and slept until an hour out of Melbourne. The hard product is excellent and staff seemed OK (given on overnight flight not much to do).

OP -UP this morning on EK412. EF was showing a very full Y so I was a happy camper in getting a J bump at check in. Asked agent if there were any exit rows left, and she simply said you have been proactively upgraded to Business if that's OK.

Op up to j on qf coded ek akl-mel last week (at counter bagdrop after earlier olci).
Had similar on syd-chc previously.

On my EK flight, I booked into QF J on that flight, AKL - MEL, I did ask nicely.
I think I nearly made it with one EK check in agent, but then, there was a very strict girl standing behind, and she abruptly asked, "using points?", I said no, and I got the reply, "sorry cabin full".
I didn't peep up into F on that 380 to see if it was true or not.
But the F counter at AKL did have a number of pax checking in.
I think that there is some magic somewhere that makes op ups work as a QF flier on EK flights.

These days I book QF EK flights on the expectation we will be upgraded. Cheeky much?

Op up last week to F when flying BKK to DXB. I had already booked a points upgrade from DXB to ZRH, so I wonder if this was considered? There was an issue at BKK airport and we were bused out to the A380 and boarded via stairs on the tarmac. There is a lot of stairs when boarding an A380 upper deck.

Very cheeky but you have been extremely lucky.

I'm not holding my breath for an op-up and totally prepared to be squashed (or squashing) in economy.
