Ethiopian 737 Max 8 crash and Fallout

The Age this morning reporting that QF are considering picking up a bunch of MAXs on the cheap because nobody wants them now. If AJ was looking for the best possible way to trash the brand, he's looking in the right direction. *eyeroll*
Surely they couldn't be that stupid...

I don't know how it works but my first reaction of this article was.. He's only saying this to see if he can get a bigger discount from Airbus

Indeed. The art of negotiation.

No better example than the last three years of Brexit. When one side blatantly shows their hand - the other side can restrict and price how they want.

I'm sure the project sunrise decision was the same.. 777x or 350

The aviation periodicals have a lot of 737MAX articles at the moment and they a talking about restarting the line shortly.
I doubt anything like resuming production will happen until sometime 2021, if at all.

Already this year, Boeing have seen contract cancellations for 43 of these aircraft (10%<1% of their total orders). I suspect by the end of the year the figure will be much greater.

Starting to wonder how many of these planes will actually ever be delivered even if Boeing manages to make them safe. Given that some of their customers might not exist in a few months and Boeing already have fields and car parks full of undelivered planes, I'm starting to wonder if the last B737 hasn't already rolled off the assembly line. Even if they get the nod from regulators, there might be so many deferments, cancellations and bankruptcies that many orders could be fulfilled by repainting the planes originally designated for airlines no longer with us to new buyers.

At least Airbus' previous crisis of trying to figure out how to pump out ungodly numbers of A321s might have been resolved.

The MAX is really the gift that keeps on giving...

Boeing said it does not expect the issues to impact its current forecast of a mid-year return to service for the plane.

Even if that occurs, no airline is in a position to start taking delivery. It will be some time (if ever) before they can get the manufacturing line going.

And I read yesterday that Boeing had just closed their last production line.
