Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

I stand corrected. It must then be the only Platinum card without overseas travel insurance benefit.

So far for me, pointless ;) but hey, was worth a shot.

I too think CC companies these days are after debt, or those that will get into debt, not those that will be good customers, because being a good customer generally includes giving them a lot of money!

Look like these credit card companies don't like giving approval to self employed customers?

I am sure in HK, these banks will be all over you for a credit card, even without an income check, thats what I heard.

I had to go to a Woolworths/Safeway store to present my 100 points of ID. Got the letter requesting me to do so today.

I love new experiences! Apparently you can buy food at these Woolworths stores - amazing places.....:p

I didn't have to do that. Card arrived in the mail and called the EDR centre to activate, wonder why the rules vary?

I must confess I was a little surprised. Never had to do it before. According to the letter the card is "conditionally approved" subject to the 100 points of ID.

Before we can issue you with your Woolworths Everyday Rewards Qantas credit card we need to confirm your identity, which we're required to do by law.

Without knowing the details of Woolwoths' / HSBC's credit check process, it would most likely depend on the amount and quality of information they are able to obtain about you from credit reporting agencies etc.

No, there was an income check, I just mistakenly said I was working for 12 months instead of 6, so the figure doubled. Honest mistake! :p

Might have to do with anti-money laundering laws maybe? Credit limit over 10k might need ID verification, just a wild guess.

mmmm yep! It was VERY big number! Far too many zero's for my points balance!

For some dates yes, SYD-HNL will show 520,000 points one-way. Whereas other dates will show 83,000 pts one way ...taking into account the points earnt from the route in business (6,250 odd) there is only 5,000 pts difference between Classic and Any-Seat plus the ASA will give SCs too.

WHAT ??? Do don't you do your shopping online, like I do ? :D:lol:

ok, over a week since I applied no approval for me.... Perhaps they already run out of money he he:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Have you had an account with HSBC at all in the past, by any chance?

I just have had my EDR website update from "pending" to listing a number (albeit obscured by xx_x in parts). Seems I'm approved.

Yes, I bought a leather sofa a couple of years ago on interest free credit and it had to be paid off using an HSBC card. Now it all makes sense ;)

Like some others I am waiting for Godot.
Nothing received so far but the phone calls for info have finished.

I can confirm that a credit limit in excess of 10k doesn't necessarily require ID verification at Woolworths - I was able to activate my card over the phone no worries.

Looks like I’m just going to get my mum to apply and pay her for the points, and then my dad :p

Bugger this! ;)

Are you self employed or working for a corporation? Got a feeling if you work for someone and is above the minimum income requirement, they will approve it straight away, provided you don't have many other credit cards (ie, bumping up the overall credit limit).

I'm self employed, my application has now moved to "Pending Credit Card Application" can others report what this means...? Does it mean that the application has been approved and just waiting for the card activation when I receive it, or does it mean that my application is now "official" and waiting for credit checks etc......?
