Fair enough I guess, but 30 "extra" years to pay off $2k less seems extreme

It works in the same way that paying extra installments on a home loan can remove years from the loan itself.

Keep in mind that if interest is 20%, you are adding 1.7% per month back on, so paying 2% per month doesn't make much headway into paying the balance off.

I wasn't going to look through every page of this to find it but has there been any move on supplementary or partner cards with this credit card? Haven't had an offer but maybe someone knows.
It's odd as Mrs Warks does all the Woolworths shopping but can't use the card. She does have the EDR card to swipe each time of course. When I shop of course I use the card but my shopping is next to nothing anyway so no value.

I just give Mrs Plinge my card for this type of shopping. Since it's chip & pin it works fine.

Cash payments off this card at Woolworths Supermarket or Big W outlets has now been reduced to a $2,000 limit... In the past I have paid >$10k in cash using this payment method

Shame about this as it was quite a handy way to pay off or top-up this card with funds being credited to the account immediately. This was really useful since B-paying into this card is still quite slow...

Might be inconvenient but it doesn't mean you can't still either ask them to do five separate transactions OR even go around to five different registers :) Also I have found BPay is getting credited next business day.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know what the policy is regarding earning points when the card is in credit?

For example, if I put $1,000 cash onto the card to pay $500 owing, and then spend $500, do I still get the points for that purchase, or is it not credited? Moreover, is it even possible? I used to have a special sort of loan/card which I could put in credit, but I'm not sure if that works on the WWEDRCC.

im considering applying for this card, is it difficult to get approved? $8000 is the minimum credit limit which seems really high

Hi dazz81, got my Woolies EDR QANTAS CC in the post today, applied about 2 weeks ago. Completed the application online, got a call a few days later from them to confirm a few details (probably things I incorrectly entered from the application form), it's all rather painless.

Gonna use it for all CC purchases that don't accept Amex. A $265 purchase at Woolies/Big W will net you 500 FF points - you get 265 for the CC plus 235 (265-30) for the EDR part of the purchase. Don't forget to ask the checkout staff to scan the EDR barcode at the back of the CC. So if you go ahead and get your CC you don't need your EDR card anymore.

I think it's all relative. If you have no other cards, $100k in income and few expenses, it's likely to be a breeze, but if you're earning $50k, already have a credit card or debt and have expenses, you'll probably be declined. It really depends on your personal circumstances. However, it seems everyone in this thread who applied has received.

Min limit is definitely not $8000, whatever they may claim.

interesting thanks.

well my income is well above the minimum , perhaps ill go ahead. i must say i don't really use credit and have preferred to spend my own cash for a long time but the extra QFF points might be handy if i decide to just use this card for everyday expenses and pay it off monthly

There was no limit asked for when I applied... and they gave me enormous credit. Luckily I was able to reduce that to just a few thousand after the card arrived, its only a backup to Amex for me and I barely use it tbh. So long as you get get past the line and have them approve you, you should be able to reduce the limit and give yourself some headroom to apply for further cards later as bonuses appear.

thanks for that info, during the application process it clearly states the minimum for this product is $8000 and I certainly don't need that, half that would be more appropriate, ill see what they offer if anything. The 16,000 bonus for sign on at present is enticing too although NAB have some promo's on as well but the earn seems pretty poor for NAB gold qantas card, platinum is ok but I'm not sure I need a platinum card with it's high annual fee.

As Moopere noted you can subsequently ask to cut limit, this may be the way to go!.

Just wondering what (if not to personal) the lower limit they gave you was? I just made phone contact a few minutes ago, which the 1st reply was that I was on the lowest possible ($8k). After I said that I would need to cancel the card in the near future, he said (1) "I will transfer you to the ........"; then after I said I didn't wish it done right now (in a not happy jan voice, as he didn't hear what I actually said!), he put me on hold and came back with a lower limit of $6k, which I accepted.

I did also make mention that it would be cheaper to keep the current customers happy, then spend millions on getting new customers!

My +1 wanted to cut her limit as she is applying for an investment loan...the lowest they would cut the limit for her was to $6000 (initially they said the lowest limit was $8000); she actually wanted the limit reduced to $3000:shock:...they only relented to $6000 after she threatened to close the account!

As a data point, applied Wednesday last week, noticed pending application in the EDR account on Friday. Today shows a credit card in the EDR account. Seems I am approved although no notification as yet.

Bear in mind that I've had this card for almost as long as its been available - so things may have changed. I was in the middle of points season as I recall and needed really low limits on cards I really wasn't going to use a lot, so I rang them up and they dropped the limit to $2,000 for me with a warning that they could only change my limit twice a year.

Actually, 2K$ turned out to be a bit squeezy so I upped it a few months later to 5K$ where it still sits now.

Perhaps things have changed and the lower limits really _are_ no longer available. I can't understand the reasoning unless its an effort to box out competition to some degree by 'using up' ones credit capacity????
