I have been refused twice for this card...sniff
I don't seem to have much luck with HSBC
Lordy if only they knew what I put through credit cards and what a good risk I am
Oh well, their loss
Wait a few months and try again I guess
Shame to hear that you having problems getting this card, for me this was a very easy card to get, and I'm self employed so lots of risk there they would see... for me HSBC love me, but Citi & Amex dont... (Been rejected several times)
What percentage of credit do you have at the moment in relation to your gross earnings...? This may be your problem, you may already have too much credit already...?
....my combined credit limits would be, say, a quarter of my gross earnings. And about a 5% of assets
My understanding is that the points accrue on the transaction level irrespective of the balance. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know what the policy is regarding earning points when the card is in credit?
For example, if I put $1,000 cash onto the card to pay $500 owing, and then spend $500, do I still get the points for that purchase, or is it not credited? Moreover, is it even possible? I used to have a special sort of loan/card which I could put in credit, but I'm not sure if that works on the WWEDRCC.
Have you guys pulled your credit file and had a close look, there may be something on there you are unaware of!Shame to hear that you having problems getting this card, for me this was a very easy card to get, and I'm self employed so lots of risk there they would see... for me HSBC love me, but Citi & Amex dont... Yes, if your veda report shows nothing then it's almost certainly about serviceability. NNCP law requires lenders to lend responsibly and if you have lowish income and a number of credit cards already not surprised they might not lend to you.Pretty sure Amex & Citi dont like me due to the fact that I am a sole trader, and my taxable income is low due to heavy superannuation contributions. My veda report shows nothing for both of these companies to be concerned with...

Well aware that lenders treat differently but some would suggest they are incorrect. Credit risk decision about individuals is one thing but taking on the responsible lending laws is quite different. I don't think these laws have been tested yet, but sending out mass credit limit increases without assessing serviceability in my opinion opens these lenders to the possibility of a whole class of contracts being branded non-complaint with a risk that they all get cancelled, i.e. this whole group of people don't need to pay back the money.Yes, but Amex & Citi look at risk completely different than the "others" who are happy to come to the party, and then offer limit increases once they see the current limits being used...

I fixed it another way.
I have just activated my new Qantas Staff Credit Union card and Mrs N has a brand spanking new Everyday rewards card. Soon she can apply to have me as a supplementary card holder. Take that HSBC!!!
Thanks for the credit file suggestion..I am not sure that I want to look. I rationalise it by thinking it's a HSBC thing. I have little trouble getting cards and increases from every other company and the major banks.
Regards
I've been thinking about a Qantas Staff Credit Union card as a replacement for the Woolworths card. Are you Qantas staff (I'm not)? What's card website like?
My eldest son now has a Woolies credit card so I am happy he finally got around to applying.
