Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

Effective 25 February 2013, the Cash Advance Usage Charge will apply to all cash advances and cash substitutes as
defined in your credit card Conditions of Use. No rewards points will be earned on these transactions.

Their T&C's are so vague in respect to what their definition of a "Cash Substitute" is... the latest T&C's on their website only refer to changes been made in July 2012, I'm wondering why this notice is in my current statement if it was changed six months ago...?

ooooh. Keep us posted. And I'll keep an eye out too. I like this card

Apologies if this is answered elsewhere, I had a quick trawl through this thread and didn't see anything.

I've finally started using my EDR QF card (forgot I'd gotten it) after cancelling my Jetstar card, and noticed that according to the "points summary" page, none of the ~$7k worth of purchases I've done on the card in February have earned any points (nor have they posted directly to my QFF account) !

Is there a monthly sweep, or something similar, or should I be calling them up to ask what's going on ? They have the right QFF membership number listed on the Points Summary page.

This is currently 20k points and $89 pa if sign up < March.

Is this a reasonable deal, or does anyone know of any better QF point earn cards for $15K spend ?

given we have no idea how much you value a qff point at, we can't say, but $15k/year won't even cover the annual fee for some other cards, so this may be your best option.

note that the ING 5% for paywave < $100 thing is likely the best 'rewards' deal available for most people.

I also received my statement and was offered 20000 points for $89 sign up. Not sure if this is a good deal or not? I already have plat edge, plat charge, plat reserve, Westpac altitude plat amex/mastercard...

K3nnis, if you get a statement, does that mean you already have the card, so why would they offer you another one .... what am I missing ?

Sorry, not sure what all that means, 'plse explain'?

Most people need something other than Amex. Now you obviously already have Westpac Mastercard so are covered for the non-Amex spending. I have no knowledge of the Westpac card benefits - is it 1:1 to QFF for the Mastercard spending? I know many of the combined Amex/MC products do not offer 1:1 on the MC. So if not, then using EDR for non-Amex spend may have a better earn rate. Then its probably a good deal.

And if you are an EDR member, you don't have to carry an extra card around with you as the EDR MC had your EDR barcode on the back. I no longer carry my orange EDR card in my wallet (gave it to Mrs NM so she can can help achieve my "goals" when I receive the bonus offers). So in my case, for Woollies spend I scan the EDR MC along with the groceries, then use the Amex Plat Edge for the purchase.

That's interesting, I have never rec'd an EDR card statement, I didn't know there was such a thing.

I usually just hear what points I've earned from my QF statement. No wonder I found checking if my points were credited difficult.

Hi NM,

My westpac MC is not 1:1 as you mentioned. I'm also thinking to cancel my plat charge when it comes up for renewal in july. Only issue is, I want to keep my plat edge but that does not transfer to QF, so I am only capable of earning QF points using the WOW Mastercard. My westpac card is the altitude version so no transferring to QF.

If you want Amex points to feed into QFF, then look for something other than Platinum Edge. Otherwise look at some of the other programs that you can access via the Platinum Edge as they can be good value ;)

I am using a platnium AMEX which gives me 3xpoints at supermarkets and 2xpoints at service stations but does not transfer to QF. So my points mainly come from credit card spend and I will never advance in status so I am looking to give the few QF points I have to a charity or such like and concentrate on building Velocity points.

My revised spend would be about 35K on cc this year. This ERQCC is $89 to join. Is it one worthy of consideration as I need to get some points earnings.

Currently, I have 2 free credit cards (1 is platinum w' free insurance but zero rewards). Perhaps I need to join the grown ups and get a card that includes benefits?

Any thoughts most welcome.

Tks for the ING link.
