I am usinPlat Amex has same points earn and allows g a platnium AMEX which gives me 3xpoints at supermarkets and 2xpoints at service stations but does not transfer to QF. So my points mainly come from credit card spend and I will never advance in status so I am looking to give the few QF points I have to a charity or such like and concentrate on building Velocity points.

Note that the DJ's has same points earn and allows transfer to QF if that's what you want.

Also 11,250 points on sign up.

David Jones - David Jones American Express Card

I notice in some reviews of the DJs Amex above (slightly off topic), some people got it for no annual fee. Anyone know how to do that?

Woke up this morning to find a sms saying my credit card had been blocked and to call them to unblock it. I ring up, they tell me they can't do anything because the department that handles the blocking/unblocking of the cards is only open Mon-Fri business hours!!! Do not rely on this card as your primary source of access to money!!

Not surprised -- typical of the poor service behind this card. If you had Amex or just about any other card the service would be 24/7. If it wasn't for the good points earn I'd drop it forthwith.

Yes, i have just received the card as well so it has left a sour taste in my mouth. I have had no problems with ANZ or St George in the past, even the 28 degrees, in regards to suspicious transactions. Not having 24/7 access to unblock a credit card? I will be unleashing on Monday because it simply isn't good enough.

The earn rate is the only thing going for this card atm.

From experience, this is simply not true. I have had Amex block my card (due to their own error) on a Friday, and haven't been able to get it unblocked until Monday.

Update:- funnily enough just got a call from the credit card people. After calling them back, and dealing with the terrible teleprompts, I confirmed the suspect transaction and they unblocked my card..Why they couldn't do it the first place when i called? a mystery.....

Direct debit payment on WQEDPRCC: I've had this card for a couple of weeks and I wanted to check if my direct debit was noted on my on-line record anywhere. I can't see if it is and I can't see if it isn't, as there is no reference to it at all. Just a minor point then, getting paid.

After multiple phone calls etc I can see what people are talking about the general low level of service. Does anyone know off hand what i should see if my direct debit has been recorded?

Shortly you'll get an email survey asking for your thoughts on the contact. Give them curry. Complain about the awful website too.

I see Amex has downgraded their points earn so ATO (and some other charges) now only earn 0.5 QFF points per $1. I wonder how long before WEDR does that.

I've learned that although a useful card that I like a lot, it can't be relied upon. I travel a lot, and book airline tickets from Australia but on foreign airline websites, I almost always end up with a blocked card, and they _always_ blame the airline for this ... yet any other card in my armoury doesn't suffer this problem. Once the card is blocked, you only have a window of time to unblock it, because the call centre is not 24x7 ... so if this was your only access to money when you were out and about, and it got blocked, you could easily be in a pickle.

Had my annual fee hit (as I actually like this card) - rang to have it waived first CSO NO but will transfer you - second CSO NO (slight discussion on possibly cancelling card)- when she piped up I can email your request would I like that yes - returned call from third CSO and fee waiver granted.

So I just got a EDR Mastercard.

Whats the best use points wise - EDR for Woolworths shopping, insurances and utilities (that amex only pays 0.5 for)? am i missing anything? whats the story with fuel from Woolworths petrol?

thanks

terry

Terry you blip the back of you credit card to get the fuel discount then pay with your 5% off RACWA gift card that you bought on your brand new EDR credit card. It costs $29 to be an affiliate member at RACWA. If you do this remember to smile for the camera!

interesting. Thanks!

Earlier today I booked someone on this card on UA SYD - SFO for around $1,500. I missed a mob call around that time.

Later, when I got the garbled message and looked up my account on line I couldn't get in. I called up and the card had been blocked due to the transaction.

Doesn't this seem just a tad over protective, what would happen if I was o/s?

Call up tomorrow and cancel, that's what I would do...and I'd tell them why too....cough service should never be rewarded...

Yesbut, I haven't got my sign on bonus yet. I will call them and tell them what i think of them and ask if they intend to do such a thing again.

Happens to me all the time with this card. They routinely block overseas transactions and blame the merchant. My take is that you simply can't trust this card o/s. Even after talking with them before a transaction and/or getting the card unblocked there are still many situations where the card simply won't work. I've even had it refused in Sydney.

Its a good card for what it is and the price you pay ... but it can't be the only credit in your wallet.

I resurrected another thread this morning on buying a car on a cc (it was an amex thread). However, I will need to do this on this WQERDCC.

Assuming I haggle strongly enough to get as much as possible on the card, does anyone know off the top of their head what the actual merchant fees are on this card. If the car dealer tell me 1% for example, would that be right?

What would I get - is it 1 pt per $1? Thanks
