My limit would be enough to buy an ex OZ DONE4 and have a little change ...

My first post, I recieved my card which was around 16% of my modest income.

Would you mind me asking on what date you applied for the card and on what date your application was approved?

I applied on 14/11/10 and my EDR account still shows the application as pending, 10 days later.

Hi
I got a letter saying to send payslip and bank statement. It does not tell me to get ID checked at woolworths.

I sent the documents today, and tomorrow I will go overseas for 3 months.

So I am worried they will ask me to do the ID check after I have gone. I have never had an Hsbc facility before.

So my question is did anyone who received a letter asking them to fax more info later get another letter to do an ID check?

ha ha, gotta love this card from Woolworths, most cashiers at woolworths stores, woolworths liquor, Woolworths petrol have NFI about this card...

So many times I have been asked if I have an EDR card, hand them the EDRQ card and most of them have no idea it has a barcode on the back of it :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Perhaps they need to advertise this card to their staff along with the general public...! Or perhaps we are all on the cutting edge :):)

I got a 'please go to a store with 100 points of ID' request.

Nothing about pay slips or anything like that.

I went in tonight, the first guy I spoke to had no idea so he called his supervisor.

She knew what it was about, but it took her a while to find my details in the computer. She had some difficulty. In the end she found them though and sorted it out.

I asked whether they'd had many people come in, and she said not yet. But they had a lot for the previous card.

They have - early on someone posted the 'staff' version of this offer. From memory they can get the card without the membership fee and still get the points.

Hi.

I got the same payslip request. I haven't heard back yet since sending it through, except on the Everyday Rewards site it now displays the credit card as a link. It is requiring me to activate it to go further, so I'm guessing the card is in the mail and once I get it I can activate it and go from there. Sounds like you're going through the exact same scenario as I am (so you might just have card sitting round for three months I guess).

Got mine in the post earlier this week and had only applied one week prior. I wasn't asked for payslip & statement etc (maybe because I already have a HSBC savings account). Waited for over 40 minutes on hold to activate the card! Got there in the end!

And I have my first statement after only 2.5 weeks of having the card! Oh well hopefully that means my 16k points will be turning up soon :)

My first statement was within 3 days....I didn't even have a chance to spend on the card, the only item on the bill was the $89 fee!!

Can anyone confirm if there is fraud protection on this card? For example if there is an unauthorised transaction, will Woolworths or HSBC cover the loss?

And how secure is this new PayPass function? If you lose your card anyone could just go around tapping the card on the terminal to buy items under $100!

Just cancel your card like you normally would, there's a limit to your liability in the T & Cs as long as you report the card stolen as soon as you know about it.

The only real difference is not having to sign or enter PIN, guess they've worked out the risk as opposed to the marketing and convenience benefits.

As far as I am aware Paypass, and Visa's version called Paywave are just a quicker authentication mechanism and once you report your card lost or stolen then the issuing bank system will still be able to detect the use of the card and advise the merchant accordingly,I don't think that Paypass or Paywave is an authentication free system,it's just a quicker method than pin or signature.
As far as fraudulent transaction monitoring HSBC currently use the Falcon system that ANZ uses but I don't know whether they will be covering the Woolworths cards.
In 2011 HSBC in Australia is rolling out the SAS protection system that they have been using in the UK and Europe for some time, this system is supposed to be world leading technology.
