Fewer Suites, but larger and plusher coming....

Interesting about the following statement for Suites:

A CABIN THAT MATCHES YOUR MOOD
At a touch, the mood lighting in your private bedroom changes to one of five settings. Or, individually finetune all 10 light sources from your control panel to suit the time of day or the activity. Save* your personal settings, and they’ll even greet you automatically on your next flight.

It would be interesting to see how it works and how it would decorate the room. Also I wonder how the personal settings works?

For IFEs, the following is also interesting:

ENTERTAINMENT WITH A PERSONAL TOUCH
An 18” touchscreen monitor in high definition paired with noise-cancelling headphones. A cutting-edge system that saves* your playlists and preferences for future flights. And over 1,000 entertainment options, from Hollywood to Bollywood and everything in between. You’ll want to be seated for this.

Looking at the video I posted above from Sam Chui at the launch event the Aussie Lady showcasing the Business Class seat does not look comfortable lying down in Business class. IMO.

Though that is without the mattress cover that goes over the seat and which you will use if sleeping.

Seems like suite savers on the new plane is no longer on the table? i've checked multiple days at max days out for 1pax and nothing on saver..?

That’s been the case for some time now...

Although the old suites are dated and less spacious than some of the competitors, I am not convinced the new suites are an advantage to most of us here.
The new suites will be harder to secure on points given less seats.
Suite Savers may not become available for some time ( if ever), hence even if available, this will become more expensive.
In the "old suites", my wife and I usually used the middle section as a double bed - with a TV screen each.
In the "old suites" there were frequently unused seats which we were permitted to use for sitting/dining while the bed was kept ready for use.
Given the fewer seats, I suspect using more than 1 suite per pax will be unlikely.

They've heard the complaints and have reduced the width-

Does it look like its going to be awkward to sleep with the foot cubby off to the side?-

Where on earth are you meant to put your legs?!

The new products look fantastic! I'm not sure about the position of the footwell in J, but that's a minor thing in what overall looks like a very good product.

I note that the new products will be available on some flights from next month. Not in 2 years, as with some of QF's cabin refresh announcements.

I suspect that this is what the NFC reader is for.

I think I'm reitterating what has already been said...

New suites look great, would love to try them. Hopefully some of my bookings next year get the refit.

I'm pretty damn worried that there won't be any award savers for new suites moving forward... Pretty damn diddly freaking gosh darn worried.

I can see some for September/early October next year SYD-SIN-SYD. Many on Waitlist but at least that are still showing as a possibility. Obviously they will become easier to get once more aircraft arrive with the upgraded configuration and on other routes. If you can remember back to the introduction of Suites on the first 380s, there were no Savers for a few years so patience and persistence will be necessary. I think two Savers together will be very rare tough.

SNIP.

Is there a way to see how many are on the wait List? If so can you tell where on that list you are?

Oh wow thats awesome thanks for that great advice. I'm not worried at all about having to spend double the points anymore. /sarcasm.

Actually for bookings in peak dates such as Xmas and New Year, where Savers is always hard to come by regardless of new or old Suites, Standard is definitely a good option .....

That J sleeping position doesn’t look great. The reduced pitch is a big issue. It is bad enough on the A350 where the pitch is tight. Much prefer the ‘straight’ sleeping position of the CX (the whole seat is angled) or EK/TG/QF seats.

Its a long shot, but by any chance is anyone here the person in 1F on 232 on 28 June? If so, would you mind switching to 3F so my +1 and I can have the double suite? We're in 2/3F. We were originally in 3C/D in the old configuration.

Second question, if we aren't able to get the double, what do you all think, stay in 2/3F or take 3A/3F. Surprisingly, 5 out of 6 suites are already booked for our flight!
