Fewer Suites, but larger and plusher coming....

We always go the window seats and it really doesn’t matter if you are on the other side. The double bed is too small if you are used to a king bed. Just relax and go the Krug, icy Vodka and more.

This thread is only on the new suites (and new J and Y) though. Hence the comment on your post of 2 back which was out of context with the thread. You may be getting this thread mixed up with the other older thread on SQ Suites.

Also no one from the general public has flown in the new Suites yet.

Its a long shot, but by any chance is anyone here the person in 1F on 232 on 28 June? If so, would you mind switching to 3F so my +1 and I can have the double suite? We're in 2/3F. We were originally in 3C/D in the old configuration.

Second question, if we aren't able to get the double, what do you all think, stay in 2/3F or take 3A/3F. Surprisingly, 5 out of 6 suites are already booked for our flight!

Have you rung SQ and explained the situation?

They may be able to do something.

I did. Basically said they would put a note for check-in and see what can be done on the day (asking the pax if they are willing to move).... Understandable. I wouldn't ask (or expect) them to call a pax and ask them to move seats. BUT, I have no problem seeing if any friendly people on here happen to have the seat I want. :)

I have to admit, I'm ecstatic that we are just in the new suites for one of our 5 flights next year (the remaining are in the new 4 seat F cabin on the 777 or the older a380 suites config). I am lucky that the SQ agent was proactive and submitted a request for our seats be released from the waitlist back when we booked (and before the announcement of what flights would have the new suites). I don't think there is a lot of hope for 2 saver seats in the new suites for most routes for a while.

Also to lovetravelingoz, I realise nobody has flown in the new suites, but thought there might be some opinion to seat preferences based on the videos and diagrams that are out there. I personally cant see how there would be any difference from suite to suite, except to be able to have the double when traveling as a couple, or a particular side of the aircraft for those really detailed planners who want to see something specific from their window based on direction of travel, approach, etc.

As for opinion on the new cabins, I love the suites. I'm still on the fence for the J cabin. I don't understand why they utilised the foot cubby design, and I can't believe that people are actually complaining that the existing business class seats were TOO WIDE. I look forward to reading the trip reviews as the new cabins go into service.

I fully agree. Though my comment was on Cove's post and not yours as he was clearly referring to "Old Suites".

Seating preference is such an individual thing.

I am in the camp of believing that the A380 Suite/J seats are too wide, and are oh so FLAT, for comfortable sitting. The cushioning also lacks thickness and give. They are to my mind more akin to a park bench than a comfortable seat/recliner.

I mean if you want to rest two elbows at once? SQ tried to rectify this in part with their long pillows, but to mind it is a poor substitute for a seat of a narrower dimension more in keeping with the width of the occupant.

Though the extra width no doubt is better for some. But for me the reduced width and CONTOURING of the new seats Suites in F and J is much better, and I rate this as a step forward.

I last travelled on SQ back in 2015 and I very much preferred the J in 777 compared to the J in A380.

I've got a big cough, so I like a wider seat. Granted I've lost 23KG and want to lose 10 more... But I'll be much more comfortable in a "normal" seat now. I'l never be a small guy, I've got a big chest and broad shoulders and Im 183cm tall, not NBA tall I know) so small confined J seats (like EK J seats on the A380) are not comfortable for me no matter if I'm at my super fat or ideal weight. :)

Singapore seem to be very reluctant to ask people to move (and fair enough too). Last year we did a spur of the moment trip to Singapore and the seats in the middle were either booked with a pair or a single for the return flight. I got the same story about seeing when checking in online, or on the day. I put myself in the spare seat in the middle and Mr FM in the single next to me. I asked again when we checked in but they said I should ask on the plane. When we got on it turned out there actually was a couple, but their travel agent had selected seats so they had one window and one in the middle. The poor things were quite unhappy, but clearly had no idea about selecting their own seats. I had no problem offering my seat and taking the window one. It meant Mr FM and I were split across the plane but we didn’t mind that. So I would suggest if the person looks friendly just asking them yourself on the day.

Hey Guys,

I was looking at making my first F-redepemtion for my partner & I's honeymoon next year in November.
So obviously these dates will open up relatively soon.
SQ232 was going to be our preferred service (pre-cabin upgrade announcement).
Looking at the last week that is currently available (late October) there is no dramas getting 2x F saver tickets on all the other services out of Sydney except SQ232 (Im assuming this is obviously due to the recent cabin upgrade).

Will saver tickets open up eventually for this service? Or given its a new product SQ won't release any for a while?
Do people remember what happened when they initially released suites on the a380?

My alternate plane is to book on SQ222 and hope that the cabin is upgraded in the next 12 months.

Don't get me wrong - incredibly excited to fly F for the first time, but hard not to want to experience the brand new cabin!

That's the way to go, IMO. Even if they change their policy, two Savers out of six suites in total is likely to be a big stretch.

Yeah I do appreciate that. Out of those 6 obviously all won’t be reward tickets...with two savers highly unlikely.

I would have preferred the midday departure. However will hopefully get tickets on the afternoon a380 and cross the fingers for a cabin upgrade.

So for the interim - do we think saver tickets on SQ232 will be unavailable?

Would that mean, if you waitlisted and sent a chase the chances would of been pretty high of them clearing it since it was empty?

I think the new suites look great and can’t wait to fly them in April. Meanwhile I’ve booked the new J in February to check out that double bed.

Will the J class seats be subject to droop?

The seat doesn't appear to slot into anything so isn't their a risk that over time the mid section of the bed drops - the feet are obviously fixed as ia the pull-out extension

I have never had droop on this style of seat where there is a fixed foot hold/well. It is often the pressure of the feet pushing down go adjust body position, which occurs on the fixed foot rest in this case, that cause the droop on seats that just extend.
