PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Just got my upgrade. Sadly no seats in the lower deck "first class" nose section.

Is 16B in emergency exit on the upper deck good? Does this have good leg room?

Ah, I found the answer here. I will stick with the change I made to select this seat.

Row 16 is probably the best J seats on the airplane. I think better than even row 40 as its upstairs and only 2 per row.

(Not including Rows 1-4 as these are really F- seats)

.....But its a long way down via the emergency slide.....:D

Thanks! I can already see some benefits from being SG. As PS I think I probably would've got a seat on the lower deck if anything. Looking forward to it.

Hopefully that won't be necessary.

Tomorrow I guess I will see if I can get into the Cathay Pacific lounge but that probably won't be possible.

Great result mviy !!!. Yes tangible evidence that higher tier status makes a difference.

Can you please post your upgrade success here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....er-program/qf-upgrade-success-rate-56353.html..

Please include your flight number and date of flight, fare bucket, start cabin, end cabin class, when you requested upgrade and your tier status at time of upgrade request and any other info that may be pertinent (e.g. whether you made a $$ offer for the upgrade). Ill look up flight loadings for that flight and post to same to give it some flight loadings context

Can anyone please advise upgrade chances from J to F on QF93 14 Jun? What do loadings look like atm?
Please provide departure and destination airports. EF needs this, and it saves the person doing the search for you from also having to do the extra legwork.

Anyway, I think an upgrade is unlikely from MEL:
F1 A0 J2 C2 D0 I0 W5 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 G0

QF11 (SYD-LAX) looks a better option:
F8 A8 J9 C9 D0 I0 W3 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 G0

JT is correct, EF does not search by flight number, only departure, destination airports, airline, date.
Good to get into the habit even if most of us know QF93 is MEL-LAX.

Harpoon, the main determinant would be your Tier Status and the number of pax with higher tier status requesting same and whether you bought a discount or flexible J ticket.

Just checking our seats for our forthcoming European trip, I see that Mrs C and I have been moved from previously allocated regular J (r16) into "Emerald City" (r11). This makes me wonder if there's any likelihood of being sent downstairs into F.

May I ask as to the upgrade likelihood from J to F for
QF1 SYD-LHR Mon 27-Jun-2016.

Thanks in advance.

I would think not for SYD_DXB sector

16AB on SYD-DXB not occupied but empty on DXB-LHR were you in those seats previously?. Were you moved without your request?

Many thanks for the super-quick reply, QS, much appreciated (must buy you a beer at next AFF function).
Oh well, J in Emerald City is nice enough..... Mrs C was looking forward to a foot spa in the Syd F lounge, though (our SCs take us from SG to WP only on arrival in DXB on the way home).

Sorry I missed this part of your message - yes we were 16A,B both ways are now 11J,K both ways.
Our seats were allocated by our TA 7-8 months ago on booking; we didn't request a seat change, it just "happened".

I had 11A last year MEL-LAX and was quite happy with it: up the front, quiet, no foot traffic to speak of (close to the F stairs for the CSM to bring me a few glasses of 2004 Pol Roger :) !).

11 J,K will be satisfactory.

1F and 1J seat left... F1 A0 J1 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 G0
Thanks. Is that the case for both legs? Looking a the QANTAS website only that much was available for purchase for the whole way, but for the second leg it seemed more was available. Would QANTAS upgrade both legs or nothing?
