PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Hi all,

Travelling on KA906 HKG-PEK in a few weeks, and the loadings are currently F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I9 Y9 B3 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 on a 333. When I booked about a month ago, there were 9s across the board (we scored O class for practically nothing on a multi-city booking). A few days ago, it was showing Y8 B0, though this has since increased to Y9 B2, and now Y9 B3. To those who may be more familiar with KA (Dragonair) than myself, is this generally indicative of an over-sold flight? Also, when receiving op-ups in the past (either on KA or CX, when travelling with another person on the same PNR), did you both receive an op-up, or was it only offered to the OW elite passenger on the booking (essentially splitting the party up)?

*crosses fingers for an op-up*

Have you read this thread:

If you look at the first post of this thread "I" class is mentioned. What do you see? I9

Hi, I'm looking to book a flight from GIG to SCL this Friday (21st Sept). Flight is JJ8221 (operated by LAN I think). Expert Flyer shows availability in business class but I can't book seats on either the LAN or TAM websites - they come up with no availability. Anyone got any idea what's going on???

Have you tried changing E/F availability to UK from US just to "see".

Airlines can vary availability based on various facets, such as point/region/country of sale.

It could be availability is not been made for South American bookings.

I'd be interested in opinions about upgrade chances of these 2 flights:

QF9 1 Oct
Currently have a request for Y(V) to PE for 6 people in a booking. Unlikely to get up based on loadings below. I could scrape together enough points to request an upgrade to J, and cancel the PE request. Is the J upgrade more likely to succeed? (I ask is thinking of a snowflake being more likely to survive in a fire kind of way)
F7 A6 J9 C9 D9 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9K9 M9 L2 S9 G0 E0

Ok this flight has now changed to:

F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I0 W4 R0 T0 Y9 B6 H1 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

The Y fares have been slowly decreasing since my previous post as expected. But W went to W1 yesterday and now W4. What does that mean in terms of upgrades? They are over selling PE class? Could that mean PE to J op-ups/upgrades clearing but no chance for Y to PE or Y to J? A has also increased to A9, so I guess that means some J to F upgrades will happen as well?

Edit: or does it mean there are only something around 9 seats left on the flight and there will be general movements upwards.
To self: do I want to risk 250k points for J(x6) MEL-SIN?

This is beyond a joke now:

Still I0 however.

Edit: 24/9, So now Q and X are 9, V is 6 and R is 2. Otherwise the availability is the same.

This is an oversell situation, right?

Sorry if this is boring but here is the latest version QF9 1 Oct:

F
1
A1 J9 C9 D9 I0 W7 R6 T5 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 Q9 G0 X9 E0

I'm going out on a limb to guess that the F upgrades have been processed. PE keeps increasing but I'm not going to bother offering 150K points to get 6 of us into PE.

Exciting stuff!

Thanks, Serfty, and there's a page giving explanations of all abbreviations, somewhere, that I have looked at.....much appreciated Serfty.

Using Expert fyler for the first time looking for fares from BNE to CTS and came across the following when doing a search on fare routing results:

This is saying $334 AUD return. Would this be correct or am I not interpretating codes etc correctly. If it is correct, how do I go about purchasing such a ticket?

Appreciate your comments and guidance

Upgrade chances on flight to Asia.

Trying to determine what my chances of upgrading using points would be based on the following info from expert flyer for BNE to CTS return in Jan 2013

J4 C4 D4 I0 U0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

I am QF Platinum and my partner is bronze and we have approx 80K of points available.

Was looking at purchasing either discount economy or PE and using points to upgrade.

What would my chances be based on the above loadings.

Thanks
FBS

Re: Upgrade chances on flight to Asia.

What airline or airlines are you flying with? No airline currently flies from BNE to CTS direct. You mention you are a QF platinum, but Qantas doesn't fly to CTS. You could take QF to Hong Kong, Shanghai or Tokyo, then connect to CTS with another airline.

As mentioned you need to mention the airline, especially considering that CX is an option.

I am flexible with who I fly however as I am with QF OW airlines is the preference. I am also flexible with stopovers in either HKG, Japan, Taiwan or China and then onwards to CTS.

Re: Upgrade chances on flight to Asia.

You can not upgrade with points with any airline other than QF.

As always applying for points upgrades is very much akin to joining the lottery.

I am fairly sure that both JL and CX fly to CTS from memory, so you will need to base your selections on that.

Re: Upgrade chances on flight to Asia.

Perhaps too early to ask this question, but how do the loadings look for the following:

QF15 28 Dec 2012 BNE-LAX
CX883 13 Jan 2013 LAX-HKG
CX157 15 Jan 2013 HKG-BNE

Thanks.
