Are you trying to reach SG for the first time, or renew it?

One would expect to hear within a month of anniversary. You would see status update online well before being notified by post.

Re: Whats the record for being comped?

After being "Partner Gold" for three years, SWMBO earned SG in her own right - and has not set foot on a Qantas aircraft since.

A year later she was soft landed to PS, the next year she was comped another year of PS, 0 SC, 0 ~'s, only after another year did her status return to NB.

So, comped PS with no QF flying in the previous 2 years.

Can't complain about that! Mrs Aus ATC was soft landed from PG to silver with minimal, if any QF flying. But not twice!

Anyone ever had their level retained even if not achieving required SCs ?

hi all

just wanted to throw the question out there. Has anyone ever had their level retained even if far from the points required to reach it and ask Qantas to extended and were successful ?

I have reached WP last year and right after that I changed roles at my work which did not require me travelling as much. Bummer. Almost year later, I moved roles again and I and and will be travelling a lot, both domestic and international so I emailed Qantas and explained my situation and asked if it would be possible to get an exemption and retain my membership level but I received a generic answer and was declined. I wasnt expecting to get it but at the same time I was curious to see how much Qantas value their business travelers and how far would they go to retain them.

so yes, anyone out there who did not come even close to SCs required to retain their level and still managed to keep it ?

I was maintained at Silver without stepping onto a QF aircraft and only 110SC all earned on partners

Re: Anyone ever had their level retained even if not achieving required SCs ?

Plenty have. But the reports seem to be that you need multiple years at a specific or above the level one gets comped at. One year is not enough.

Re: Anyone ever had their level retained even if not achieving required SCs ?

Being WP1 for nearly 3 years, I missed a bit of flying last year and easily made well over 2,700 QF SCs but missed out on the magic 3600 by about a little over 200 SCs (on OW partners). I thought QF would go easy as I made their quota, hopefully getting a lucky comp even with just missing out on the total. It didn't happen. Down to WP. I was a little disappointed but understand that dem's da rules. On my way back this year. Is it worth it I hear you ask?...

You could do no more than 4~ this year and retain platinum. So for you it could be simple as doing just 40 SC.

There is a lot of evidence showing all p1s get a 2 year soft landing on platinum so long as you meet the min QF~. Why bother sending anymore than you need to when there's zero to gain by making more sc...

I'm not surprised QF would not comp their highest (paid) tier. In fact I'd be highly surprised if they ever DID comp it. Of course many things in life surprise me.

(currently 160 SC short to requalify but intend to make it in time just because I'm so close)

Re: Whats the record for being comped?

I know someone who was comped Platinum 2 years in a row with ~250SCs each time.

Re: Anyone ever had their level retained even if not achieving required SCs ?

I have been comped Platinum in the past but still made it in my own right. I am sitting on 1,150SCs with ~5 weeks to go. No sign of being comped.

Getting comped status is totally random. Status credit averaging is one of the many factors used that may determine if you are comped or not. It's not a prerequisite.

If you want to keep status then do the flying to earn the required SCs.

Whats the record for being comped?

I was comped WP by QF this year with no revenue sectors (only 2 award flights). 7 years preceding of WP though and close to P1 a few times.

VA also comped me WP with low sectors this year.

Re: Whats the record for being comped?

Rather than being comped PS there's a chance people may be LTS and not realise.
It's not that hard to achieve with infrequent travel.

I have never been comped a status.
I was WP for two years and soft landed to PG with 800SC I also never got comped up to WP with 1200SC in a year.
Only got back when I crossed the magical threshold.

Re: Anyone ever had their level retained even if not achieving required SCs ?

ok so my Platinum was going to expire on 30/4/2015 and to my pleasant surprise, I just logged into my account today and saw that its now expiring to 30/4/2016 !!!!

wow, I am honestly very impressed. Thank you Qantas, its fantastic to see that you really DO listen do your loyal customers!!!

Many thanks again ! looking forward to many flights with QF and their partners this year !

Re: Anyone ever had their level retained even if not achieving required SCs ?

Is it risky to expect a soft landing if one has not flown 4 QF sectors?

Don't get too excited just yet. My P1 status showed that for 10 days, then dropped. I knew I wasn't being comped as I hadn't received the replacement card.
