Further Status Extension to 28 Feb 2023

So I haven't been extended belong January 31st 2022 - do you think that's because mine was gifted rather than earnt. I did have one paid flight with Virgin in the last twelve months

Not sure, my status was originally extended as per the masses then extended based on 12 months on my actual renewal date, was not extend through to Sep 22 but now have email and the app details I will through to Feb 23. As your status was gifted (by me) and as you are not located that far away send me a PM late Dec/ early Jan, we can meet up and call VA and come up with a solution that works.

I assume it's not a coincidence that this extension only covers people with a review date up to 30 April 2022, given those who took advantage of the Discover Gold offer will have a review date beyond this (mine is 28 May 2022). FWIW I completed the challenge in January but still got given a May review date.

Frustratingly for me, I've been platinum for several years but haven't been flying the last couple of years, but my expiry is 31 May 22. It means I don't get an extension, so looks like soft landing time for me.

You only had to take a single flight for your membership to be extended. The recent extension to Feb 2023 was for all who had previous extension.

Wasn't hard to book a single flight.

The 8 month extension is also for those who didn't take a flight - but had a review date until 30 April 2022. So I miss out on that by one month.

I was going to book flights SYD - CBR prior to 28 March, but then VA stopped flying the route. Border restrictions from NSW made it difficult to go many places in that period.

I should have looked at that, or another regional city - but flights to those cities were fairly expensive. It was my choice, I understand that - and have to love with it.

Just frustrating that they've got little expiring until April, but not May.

By most accounts Velocity have been pretty reasonable with situations similar to yours.

I'd suggest giving them a call and ask given your circumstances if they would consider extending your status.

Who would I call for that? Just the normal Platinum line? Or would I be better to email customer service?

I guess the 280 SCs I've accrued are going to waste in any case?

Definitely, give VA a call or email.

The original email I got said it would say until Mar 2022, and then it would be updated again to 2023.

I'm in the exact same category as you. It's my own fault for not taking advantage of the offer. In the end I think I'll still requalify for platinum by my review date of 31/5/22 but I could have saved a lot of money otherwise.

Hard to know when to start even think about SC right now.

Things are not calming down for months yet. To year end again would not surprise me.

At SOME point Velocity will say all extensions are off, and business is back to normal rules -- but WHEN!?

I think this extension will be the last. Plenty of options for people to fly and most people are pretty much free to travel around Australia.
With the prices being offered now there really isn’t any reason why most people can’t travel domestically

Again I hope my guess this was Virgin using the COVID uncertain mess to drag all Elite year levels to a common date as 100s of million of USA Airlines and Hotel pan members have been used to for 40 years.

East to understand, and easy to follow

EARN all of 2022 to December 31, and that status good for a grace 2 or 3 month period into next year. Simple.

Earn 1005 SC before December 31 and you are Plat to March 2024.
