General Coronavirus chit chat thread - non-travel specific

WA just announced they are providing self-contained hotel/serviced apartments for health workers who don't want to go home and risk their families. A great relief for those workers going home at night from hospitals etc and not knowing if they are risking their families/parents et al.
Yes, apparently SA is thinking of the same thing. I think this would be an excellent idea but keen to get the thoughts of those who would actually need it. Certainly not risking family would be a relief.
SA now has two people in ICU. No details. My conspiracy theory which can run rampant is that it might be the group of American tourists as most of our people turning positive have been much younger.

Great Ormond Street Hospital in London where Dr FM works is looking at doing a similar thing. I told her she might end up with a bed at the Ritz :)

Queensland Health said there is no risk to anyone who was in the restaurant before or after this period.

doesnt make sense to me, apparently the easiest way to transmit is germs on surfaces, studies say they remain for up to 2-3 days,

why would anyone who been there before and after be no risk????
unless the someone has fumigated the place daily

Or they had tablecloths on the tables which then were dry cleaned presumably.

The son of a couple from the cruise ship docked last Thursday in SYD now has CV. He says he wants to sue the NSW Govt.
Border Force say they are not responsible and the NSW Govt say, ‘it wasn’t us’. Will be interesting to see the outcome.

....good luck with that intent. Perhaps energy better directed on getting well and getting on with life.

absolutely no way that even if they had table cloths etc. , the germs would not being present on the rest of the venue everywhere

The things you are most likely to touch are the table plates.cutlery and glasses. The only other common thing to touch would be toilet doors. If they all had to go maybe there was another virus present.
Being a 50th birthday maybe the problem was social distancing-shaking hands, kissing etc.

what I find odd/weird/irresponsbile is the fact QLD health say "there is no risk for if youve been there before/after" especially without an explanation

And do you have specific medical advice to back up your claims?

The banks measures for loan pause not effective enough ?

Currently only available to those who have lost their jobs or running a small business.

AFAIK after reading the sites of three lenders, not currently available to anyone who currently has a job or any form of income. The problem of not enough income to pay investment mortgages is not currently in their criteria.

That is what the PM said. I don't think you listened to the Victorian Premier conference properly. He specifically said only shop for essentials and someone asked for example if you could go shopping for shoes and he specifically said no.

However, even within the PM speech, he said all shops were open but also said only leave to shop for essentials. Their definition of essential is obviously different

Are you able to make up your own mind / make your own decisions without being told what to do by government? Just be sensible and the noise doesn't matter.
