Is it possible to buy gift cards at Coles with another gift card? Or does the system stop it?

I bought some Ticketmaster cards at Coles yesterday (just with my Amex) and the self checkout was very painful about it all.

It's currently possible. But not a certainty. There are a lot of variables involved. My advice is to make sure your gift card covers the entire transaction and to use a staffed checkout. You do not want a split payment situation. If you get an objection then try another store.

Thanks. I might just stick with Woolworths. The cards are a bit harder to find...

No changes to the procedures there? Haven’t bought the cards for about 3 months now.

I have seen some reports about software changes at Woolworths but not experienced this myself. And there are of course the occasionaly over zealous staff to contend with. But things are much the same. But change is inevitable.

Considering that one can`t buy egift card at a discount. why would somebody want to buy a gift card with another? am i missing something? thanks in advance.

I buy Coles egift cards with a 5% discount (there is a 1% credit card surcharge though and they only accept VISA/Mastercard). I've bought a Bunnings gift card with an egift card before, but that was months ago.

I had this problem at Woolworths in Sydney CBD so changes seem to unfortunately be coming, it may be time to stock up a bit!

This is not correct. I have previously provided information as to where you can obtain 5% off Coles egift cards (without any credit card surcharge). Recommend you read through the threads.
or do an advanced search to save a few weeks....

That's what I though, 2911 posts, no thanks!

With advanced search you can choose to do it within a thread alone (such as this one for example), then for a certain poster (Dr Ron for example) and for specific words (I'll leave those up to the imagination).

Doing it that way should (if you choose good words) present you with as few as 17 posts to read. Possible even fewer if you choose better words....

Anyone recently bought V1 $105.95 using egc? Does it still works ? I havent bought since late March. Let me know please.

Tried to amalgamate some perfect eftpos cards I bought in the recent WOW catalogue promo. Found some $250 vanilla Visa at Target as hadn’t seen them in ages thought they’d been pulled in favourite of the Only1 range.

Self serve and manned checkout wouldn’t allow split payment for when GCs are being purchased. Was hoping to amalgamate my $100 cards into $250 so they’d be easier to use and keep track of.

Is this restriction on split payments for GCs happening across other Coles group businesses now?

Coles wont let you split payments for any GCs even with 2 credit cards. Comes up as an automatic error on tills

Thanks Andye. Looks like I’ll have to find another way to spend them.

Thought I’d found another way tonight. I just filled up at my regular BP and noticed they sold Vanilla Visa GCs with no specified load value for $5.95. I asked the attendant who wasn’t sure what the max load was but said could only sell them for cash.

Has anyone come across these before and been able to buy them on credit?

Yep, saw some maybe a year or so ago. Tried to buy with my Amex (the attendant didn't specify cash only), but the transaction error-ed out. Perhaps it was because of the cash-only restriction.

Hi,

I bought some gift cards (Myer and WW) with my Plat Edge card and no points were accredited to this purchase. Is this correct? I was under the assumption that they would be.
I also had a huge problem buying them as apparently the new software would not approve anything over $500...it took over an hour to have every man and his dog approve them as apparently there were some *dodgy* scams concerning the ATO... LOL
