would it be better option to use wish giftcard to purchase with amex (for 3x points) ??

Seems to be a common type here

Long term members getting on their high horse and trying to make themselves feel better.
If you're not going to answer don't waste bandwidth.
.
Have read it and can't find it

You might as well point in the right direction if your reply to this is going to be another barking order

Apologiesif I appear to be barking, but if you go back through your timeline, you will find an enormous number of AFFers (including me) have provided you with very clear first-principle answers to make a start in your points accumulation/redemption. For offers like these, it is well worth investing the time to read and digest the thread to maximise your yield.

Um what's the point of buying these cards even for the 3ppd when you can get 3ppd and 5% off via cash rewards?

If you cant see the value this may not be for you. Me? I've bought 40 so far this morning and am headed to another store.

You do need to spend the time reading information which has been repeatedly made available to you.

no worries, ive read pretty much every thread and the large threads, except all 177 pages of it,

I see that many people are asking how they get 5% off wish giftcards which is obvious for most, however if they dont know they dont know

Dr Ralph how many did you get last time for the $100 cards? I got none. :( Didnt see the value in it. :( Wish I did

ok so ive been trying to work out why people are going out in droves to buy them, I get it a bit more now, it seems that people are buying it for the points eg getting the 3 ppd as opposed to sub 1 ppd using MC and visa

it seems that you can use wish gift cards as well,

so Ican see the attraction,

am a bit surprised thta the stores are sold out, unless a few members have been buying up!

There doesn't seem to be a huge amount in the stores. I went in at opening this morning and the staff were just finishing off putting up the signs and filling the shelf.

My guess there were about 50 cards all up on offer.

They sell out because they never had them in the first place, or they only rec'd 6 supplied and 1 or 2 or 3 ... people bought them all, or whatever.

Yes, with no card activation fee attached to these pre-paid EFTPOS cards, I too can see the reasoning behind why some people may go out of their way to stock up, since these cards will be far more widely accepted than Amex cards. The obvious earn rate on AMEX cards when shopping at Woolies with either the DJ Amex or Platinum Edge card is highly attractive.

Firstly Dr Ralph is very helpful and forthcoming with advice on many topics in this forum (just look at the number of likes received) also other member like andye have tried to explain this ad nausium.

Secondly there are are numerous reasons for getting gift cards which may also not be directly related to points or purchases i.e. Making a minimum spend to qualify for bonus points on a recent credit card application, paying for gift cards with gift card resets the use by date, more points achieved when using certain credit cards over others etc.

This is a game we play, and like all games some rules can be bent, if you like to win learn the basics and see how far you can push the boundaries by experimenting and 'thinking' outside the square

what you have tp understand is that, not everyone knows the tricks and trades of everything,

Ive learnt heaps even though ive been collecting points for 18 yrs now, i had virtually never applied for a second credit card and managed to accumulate over 1.5m in qantas points, had I known what I knew, id probably be on 5m,

obviously some people are too lazy but you cant expect people to read 177pages,

eg im reading bits by bits of the oneworld thread but at over 100 pages, sometimes its easier just to ask someone,

and for those that have been very helpful i have given them my amex referals

anyway, unfortuantely for me I dont go to many places that only accept visa so its not quite for me, however if I could use the 5% off wish gift cards, I would be using it (which ive been told should be possible), and imagine you could withdraw it as cash!! that would be so awesome

Change settings so it shows 40 posts per page.

This thread is only 46 pages for me. Much easier to read.

ACT:
Cleaned out one store of the 88 cards - bout 15 (Weston)
Cleaned out kambah - bout 10

Another store (tuggers) had 20 and the ogre would only let me buy 5..came running across shouting at the checkout girl to stop the transaction lol...should of seen it, she was staring at the giftcard section and talking to her work colleague " I SWEAR I JUST FILLED THIS UP 5 MINS AGO", then she realised what was happening and scanned all the checkouts and found me : " YOU CAN ONLY BUY ....FIVE"

Mawson and Woden had none / been cleaned out before I got there

When I checked WW Erindale (ACT) a couple of hours ago they had the promo material, but hadn't put it up, since they hadn't received any cards. They were expecting to get them yesterday.
