Thanks coolumbla for stepping up to the challenge again this year!

5 more entrants to make a 3rd team.

Who wants in?
anat0l,

Jaksmum has one more for you with the stipulation that they are on the same team. She will contact you later as she is not near a computer today. :D

Are you referring to coolumbla and jaksmum to be on the same team? Or yourself and jaksmum?

No, I believe straitman is commenting that the stipulation that jaksmum and the new entrant be on the same team.

i dont mind who i am with!

Whichever team i am on will be victorious i am sure!

Ah OK now I'm on the trolley.

And I have no problems with that either. (I'm not being bombarded by same-team requests, so my life is still fairly easy barring we still need more people to make that third team!)

I undermeant what I stood to say :!:

jaksmum has one previously unlisted participant for you provided they can be on the same team. She will contact you later with the details of the new person.

I think I need to have a couple of glasses of Red before I try to make sense of last few posts, then of course go for a long walk to work them off :lol::lol:.

I'm having one for you right now, in fact .. it may only be 9.30 here, but it's after midday in my destination

Found out from HR today that they're funding a team from my department (including me) so I look forward to joining in on the challenge with you all for the 2nd year in a row. :D

So, what's happening so far?

The registration process has yielded 16 participants.

We're still 5 members short to make a third team :( it'd be really good to see more people step up and make that third team so no one who has expressed interest so far has to miss out.

Proposal for teams so far:
  • Mod team "Big Feet"
    1. admin (MEL)
    2. anat0l (BNE)
    3. Lindsay Wilson (BNE)
    4. markis10 (BNE)
    5. NM (BNE)
    6. serfty (MEL)
    7. straitman (SXE)
  • Member team "Kangaroo Walkers"
    1. coolumbla (WGA)
    2. Flashware (LON)
    3. jaksmum (SXE)
    4. jdevereux3 (HBA)
    5. Skoogle (SYD)
    6. steptoe (SYD)
    7. tuapekastar (MEL)
    8. turtlemichael (CNS)
    9. turtlemichael+1 (CNS)
  • Member team "Pacific Walkers"
    1. ?????

Since there are only 6 moderators, to make a team of 7 I slot myself into it. I suppose I justified it as being the organisers, although it would've been kinda cool to line up against the mods :p :D

The team names - I was running out of ideas - so I picked the name of two of the longest longhaul routes from Australia (lame, isn't it?). As for the mod team name, I was playing on "Big Foot" as they are the ones that everyone here tries not to enrage or get cross. Eh, help me out here people....

As I said, there are only 5 more members needed to get the third team up. I am adamant we can get 3 teams, so I will proceed to register and pay for 3 teams. Hopefully this will allow us to get a grab on the starter packs and they can start dispatching. Members so far - I will email you later if anyone would like to nominate as a dispatch point for a box of 7 starter packs. Since we have, according to split of entrants by state so far:
  • 6 in QLD
  • 5 in VIC
  • 3 in NSW
  • 1 in HBA
  • 1 not in Australia
I'm thinking that there should be one dispatch point in each of BNE, SYD and MEL.

Sorry for all the rush-rush-rush people.

Finally - the $64,000 question - when do I have to pay?

Short answer: I'll let you know, so no need to keep asking. If you can't pay straight away, that's not a big deal either.

I'm here, I'm here... Yes, I do have an additional person to add, but we would like to be on the same team. I will go through the registration process now.

Sorry for the delay, I've been away for a few days!

Hmmmmm Yeah, It will probably be later, sorry :(

Re: Pack Distribution, would it be easier to have one central distribution point? (Probably BNE, its sort of in the middle) just a thought...

Also, I call dibs on the creation of team logos :D

Thanks jaksmum, registration has been received, and yes I will guarantee that both of you will be on the same team.

Re: Pack Distribution, would it be easier to have one central distribution point? (Probably BNE, its sort of in the middle) just a thought...

Well the idea of having different distribution points was to help minimise some postage or courier costs. For example, we have a critical mass of people in MEL (and a couple around that). At the very least, we can reduce interstate postage to intrastate or local postage.

Also, I call dibs on the creation of team logos :D

All yours :)

All participants so far have been registered into the GCC system. You probably should've all got an email giving your login instructions, and a chance to get into the GCC portal to change your contact details. (Later, your portal will be most useful as the means to update your daily step count).

Thanks to markis10 who has volunteered to be the dispatch point for BNE. The first team - AFF Moderators Big Feet - has been fully registered and paid for.

Further thanks to steptoe who has volunteered to be the dispatch point for SYD. Now we just need a dispatcher for MEL.

The second team - AFF Members Kangaroo Walkers - has been fully registered and paid for.

The third team will need 4 more members to be fully complete, although once someone agrees to be a dispatcher for MEL I intend to register the team and we will slot in 4 members before the start of the competition.

Also note that I hastily shoved a random selection into the second and third teams to get people into the system quickly. There will be room to move people around teams if you're not happy where you are.

anatOl, nice to see somebody else up late (who replies to emails as well). Will pay you by end of week.

Bought myself a new pair of walking shoes at the Brooks shop at DFO on Sunday and been walking them in.

I have convinced SWMBO to join the challenge and will get the registration done today.

Sorry I've been slow @ registering!

I said I was "in" so I better make it official and do the online paperwork sometime today (hopefully not during work hours) ;)
