Also, your cc bank details should show the date you actually paid(?). Whatever you apply for, always take a screen shot is my method - of every screen if it may help in any discussion down the track.

I made a few bookings at around 9pm the 26/2, and received confirmation emails around 2am (with the attached pdfs having issuing and payment dates as 27/2). Is there any way I can prove my purchase during the eligible period? (I've never had DSC issues before, but am becoming increasingly wary).

Strongly recommend you convert any BCI-LRE flights you holding to vouchers as soon as possible (unless you actually intending to fly)

Its 108kms between the two places so a joyride of rots and highly appropriate for a travel hack !

Be faster for the locals to drive vroom vroom

I can only talk as someone that has had a variety of outcomes on GV. They may work. They may not. Other things may happen.....

And my view on this is that if it works.. GREAT!! and if it doesn't I do not jump up and down and make a song and dance about it. It's the nature of the game.

At the end of the day, either way, some CC fees are saved - that's a certainty :)

Should not be an issue.

When you make the booking a PNR is created with your booking details etc. when you confirm with payment details you get that PNR (booking) reference. It's been created in the system then. The e-ticket receipt etc is really a bit secondary to the issue - and indeed the T&C also note that "regardless of payment date" - which covers later processing of payment.

The key is when the booking is created and you're well within the timeframe there.

Sacre Blue. I made all sorts of bookings to WP requal then cancelled them yesterday All domestic J so no refund issues. ! I decided that likely our trips os might be seriously curtailed next membership year due to this damn virus and WP wasn’t worth the funds payout. MrP will requal easily so I will just have to only travel with him. And him being lifetime SG takes some of the WP requal in future years away too.
Might do the 120,000 points if asked.

Agree it's a very uncertain time indeed.

Noting MANY hotel chains are already getting out on the front foot and extending status there's always a chance QF (and VA) will too. Hopefully. Maybe not for P1 members like me (that would seem a bridge too far) but for WP/SG/PS etc I think there's a reasonable chance.. or they may offer a simple challenge.

Totally understand why you made the choice - difficult but makes a lot of sense. I, myself, have just squashed europe travel plans due in the next month (which would have potentially been F travel or definitely J) so totally understand.

If QF announced extending status by a year for everyone that would likely lead to me trying to book classic reward seats if I go overseas this year and delaying trying to get WP back.

That’s always been the trouble with this earn and burn model.

Until you get to LTG you got no guarantees (unless you’re fortuitously comp’d) of lounge access while tumbling down to sliver.....

Still given the Ansett debacle I’m not in the business of earn, earn, earn without a bit of burn, burn, burn and surprisingly comp’d occasionally anyway. If only there was family pooling......

Not saying QF *will* extend status... I mean they could still run a robust domestic operation and all even if there are huge cuts to international network(more than current) but it could well be an option.. though given the big take up on the DSC offer it seems that QF could well point to that and say well... the folks who care have bought into our offer to keep their status so...

... I really think it depends just how things go with the virus and effect on world travel.

After all, what if all those DSC flights involving places like DPS get cancelled either due to schedule changes or the pax cancelling themselves? (ie Pushka above)

so just wait and see I guess.

If travel via SIN became a problem I'd then be forced to consider travel to LHR via PER which up to now I've been reluctant to consider.

DSCs going that way would get the same result as going MEL-SIN-LHR

Going to be interesting to see what QF and VA will do regarding status extensions.

I know P1's that have gone from travelling every week to basically being grounded!

My own travel has also reduced by 90% and I'll lose status with both airlines if the corona effect continues....

I would be surprised if QF and VA do anything in regard to status extensions and would this work given everyone has different rollover months or dates. In my case I have already re qualified for P1 and WP so if I was grounded now it would have no impact on me.

One option would be to temporarily bring back 3 year rule. If average of last three years of standard SCs (not DSCs) exceeds what’s needed to requalify then offer comps.

They would probably only consider extending status if there is a very lengthy period of reduced travel.

I'd be surprised if there was a whole-sale extension of status. First of all, it's been speculated that this recent DSC offer was in response to reduced demand resulting from the corona virus pandemic (notwithstanding there was a similar, though somewhat more limited, offer this time last year). So Qantas is arguably already offering generous incentives; status extensions would be an - arguably - redundant way of addressing the same underlying issue.

Secondly, at the moment at least, travel has mostly been affected in certain parts of the world only. I don't see Qantas being motivated to extend status for people who have gained their SCs mainly through domestic travel or to - say - the US. If there is a status extension initiative, I imagine it would more likely be targeted, just like there were waves of personalised DSC offers last year.

Of course, if the pandemic turns global and lasts even longer everything might change, and Qantas might take a "everything including the kitchen sink" approach to keeping their numbers up.

the segment is more likely to be used to get to/from Brisbane.
Hence my comment. There are people in Barcaldine and surrounding region that need to travel to BNE regularly for medical treatment. Unfortunately "vroomm vroooming" it isn't an option. BCI-LRE is part of the BNE-BCI-LRE-BNE (one way) loop IIRC.

However it doesn’t solve the corporate issue that travel is prohibited for some.
