GOOD NEWS! Krisflyer Miles to be extended until 2023 [previously April 2022]

The miles I just used all came from the ones expiring prior to March so now all I have left are expiring in March and April.

As I understand it they reinstate with original date, so those expiring (future tense) before March should be OK, the problem would be where original date has passed, ie they have expired (past tense). The two words are not synonymous! Personally I think you would be better changing even if you weren’t sure of dates to a future date. Change fees are better than losing points.

Please report back. I'm likely to have the same issue.

I have been on the phone to them twice about it now. Nothing returned as yet but I am nowhere near even close to giving up.

The lady I spoke to two nights ago has raised a case for me (supposedly). I’ve made the point that there was absolutely no indication in their media releases or the information on the website that miles already used in a booking would not get the extension. Infact, the website just says “miles” or elsewhere specifically says “all miles” when referring to the extension. Had they indicated that these miles would not be eligible for the extension then I would likely have cancelled the booking months ago so as to be eligible.

Big swag of points were due to expire in DEC for me, and probably for many others, who moved points across in Dec.

Luckily these all get extended for 6 months by SQ under their current points extension program.

As I kind of expected I received no follow up from this. No one bothered to get back to me which obviously is quite poor.

Have just got off the phone to them after 1hr45 most of which was spent on hold. Have ramped up the irritation level without being rude now which I think is fair enough at this point.

The information that I’m now being given would appear to suggest that this is a system issue on SQ part and the intention was always to extend ALL miles whether sitting in the account or having been used in an existing booking. Of course I’ve been given a different story the other two times I’ve called so who knows. I’ve been promised a call back on Monday with “hopefully good news”. We will see what happens.

Their service has gone downhill rapidly over the last 2 years. Getting a callback is extremely rare, and I’ve had a few hang up when they don’t know the answer. Operation appears to have been totally outsourced to the Philippines.

Email them. Still worked great for me to cancel some flights and get a full refund

Good to know, I’ll try that. How good does my mandarin have to be?
According to Flyertalk, Mandarin language skills not necessary. A command of Singlish would help though. . 🤣

Recommended as a last resort though. For simple matters should probably best not to abuse this, so go through the normal press 1 for English route.

Agree I’ve been on hold for countless hours sorting out cancelled travel errors and getting an agent who can actually do something right has been very challenging… I’ve had to speak to a supervisor twice.

Any updates?

I've been unlucky through email.

I transferred 300k pts in December 2019, basically expire this month. I haven't been able to use them for basic 2 years and so far it doesn't look good going forward.

I have another set of pts expiring in 5 months.

I'm pretty upset, even with the extension between constant lockdowns and Covid tests it seems difficult to use the points.

If you look at the table above you will see that at points expiring this December will be automatically extended to June 22.

However if you moved in Dec 2019 three years expiry would be Dec 2022

Are you able to use them to book a bunch of VA2 domestic flights yet?

Sorry just went on website and doesn’t look like you can - says you have to ring KrisFlyer 😱

So of course I didn’t receive the promised callback yesterday so decided to call again today. An hour on hold and then answered by……….THE SAME WOMAN AS THURSDAY! Gave me some story about not being at work yesterday which of course doesn’t explain why she wouldn’t have called me back this morning as her first task.

Anyway, still with the department that is looking into it. Well, supposedly. Further ramped up my irritation at how long this is taking. Extremely irritated. Sick of having to call back when no one ever keeps their promises to follow up with me. Mind boggling that after 6 weeks I still don’t have the “expired” miles back in my account. This should have been a 5 minute job. I want my miles NOW! Etc etc.

Obviously I’m outright pissed off at this point but not giving up. May ramp up the frequency of my calls after Xmas.

FWIW Noname, I share your frustration. Ever since they offshored the call centre to Manila, their customer service and competence has been abysmal. Sadly, there’s nothing we can do about it, even persistence is seemingly useless.

My valuation of SQ points has dropped 10-20% as a result of the new call centre. It’s almost as bad as Lifemiles.

Wasn’t expecting to be able to update this again so soon but I have just checked my account and the incorrectly expired miles have now been reinstated. So I would say to anyone in a similar position, if the number of miles is significant enough to warrant the effort then definitely follow up. It seems that eventually you will get a result. For me, 56,217 miles was well and truly worth it.

What else can you do with these miles? I have 400,000 expiring with the extension mid-year

So annoying they even expire, I'm done with Krisflyer after this.

Look to book an April/May 2023 F adventure to Europe return (for two)....
