How far in advance can we book? I don't have anyone to travel with.

How it is at the moment, no one is interested. My friends in America are literally all working from home(Boston, Seattle).

It's still chaos, I can't believe we're not getting a further extension. I mean we should start a group, or a page where people vote? Maybe if we get thousands of Krisflyer members they'll listen

Not exactly true. They aren’t accepting any for travel before 24 Jan (ex SYD), 7 Feb (ex BNE) or 28 Mar (!!) (ex-MEL).

If QF had extended my WP (with a July anniversary ), I would have already booked 2x Euro SQ J/F for Q2 next year and that would have burnt pretty much my entire SQ stash for good (some VA -> SQ pre deval and 50% VA -> SQ pre collapse).

I probably should have booked anyway while I had the chance….

OT, but burning down my residual VA balance is another 2022/23 project. At least they’re easy to keep alive.

Ive never booked reward flights in my life, just ended up transferring to Krisflyer December 2018, and basically Covid happened.

I got like 110k vff, 100k qff, 450k Krisflyer.

I don't card flip or anything, just don't fly and none of my mates travel. I just built pts up over a long time, that's why it stings.

I was thinking around the world first class? I got friends in Seattle & Boston. I have family in Italy, or I could lay on some beach in Turkey.

I just think 2022 will still stink to travel, restrictions, testing etc.

If Krisflyer don't extend, I could potentially just book to go do Christmas in America with my friends.

I assume most would use 2 X business class return but I'm single and their expiring.

If it comes down to ‘use them or or lose them‘ (frustrating as that would be), then booking 1st makes perfect sense (as well a great treat for yourself). Alternatively, if you have the time, you can always booked two or more Biz class flights.

Thank you @MattA for that link and the benefit of your experience. This is likely to be a more straightforward solution than fighting for reinstatement of miles and, given that extended timeframe, I would be able to use the original booking.

The rant above relates to those of us who used to travel a lot and are quite attached to our FF Plat or Gold status etc. The viscous cycle is that we often don’t use our points instead pay for flights to maintain status. I missed out by one month for a further QF status extension. Had I got that, it was the perfect window of opportunity to use my expiring SQ points (similar boat to you regarding SQ).

They’re getting funny about exceeding the 12 month ticket validity now. It wasn’t an issue 6ish months ago but they’re insisting on cancelling and reticketing now (which can result in the points immediately expiring and needing reinstatement)

It doesn't help me either way.

6 months extension when I couldn't use them for 2 years, and half the world's still. In/out of lockdowns is BS.

It's just a way for them to wipe people's points.

Towards July, I assume I can book 8 months ahead? It leaves me traveling either around Christmas or February/March? Which is not great weather to travel.

So upon further investigation you have to call SQ to redeem KrisFlyer points on VA2… FML…
