That's always been the case even in the VA1 days IIRCSo upon further investigation you have to call SQ to redeem KrisFlyer points on VA2… FML…

This is not correct, unless you're trying to add a stopover or something. You can book VA flights on the SQ website - as has been possible throughout the pandemic.
At the top of the search results page, you need to select "show flights for other partner airlines" and VA flights will show if available.
Book Reward Seats on Any Virgin Australia Route via Partner Airlines
Currently, it is only possible to redeem Velocity Frequent Flyer points for Virgin Australia reward seats on a limited selection of domestic routes.www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au
You need to use the website booking page.No stopover…. How strange I cannot get any flights to show up - I am doing as you say but in the app, maybe that’s the issue, I’ll try the website later.
Although the SQ website does say for all VA2 redemptions you do have to phone them….. Usual mess with SQ.
You need to use the website booking page.
At least the VA flights are there. I can’t get any *A flights to show….Thank you. Silly me thinking the app would work and that the SQ website would have accurate information on it . Thanks AFF!

Yep. I see nothing searching SYD to/from Euro (selecting *A). I’m looking for J options but not even whY seats are showing. Can’t see NZ across the pond and nothing to Nth America…Which *A airline/s are you looking for? Many show on the SQ website, but there are some that don't.
Keep in mind that you need to select "Show flights for Star Alliance".

Edit: manage to see some whY on UA to LAX on some random dates.
I have 218k points that will expire on April this year. If SQ does not extend the validity of points to another 6 months, what will people in my situation do ? (Apart from booking an award ticket by April) Will it be worthwhile to pay to extend the validity of my points ?
If your points now expire in June 2022, you will be able to book for almost 12 months out.Literally don't understand any of it lol
Ive never booked reward flights in my life, just ended up transferring to Krisflyer December 2018, and basically Covid happened.
I got like 110k vff, 100k qff, 450k Krisflyer.
I don't card flip or anything, just don't fly and none of my mates travel. I just built pts up over a long time, that's why it stings.
I was thinking around the world first class? I got friends in Seattle & Boston. I have family in Italy, or I could lay on some beach in Turkey.
I just think 2022 will still stink to travel, restrictions, testing etc.
If Krisflyer don't extend, I could potentially just book to go do Christmas in America with my friends.
I assume most would use 2 X business class return but I'm single and their expiring.
I agree Matt. I hope SQ will do the right thing. For now, I would wait until March to see if Singapore Airlines gives another extension. IMHO they kind of have to as it would be grossly unfair not to.

you could spend up big on junk in the KrisFlyer store if the points will ultimately be wiped. Be careful that any goods >$1000 will attract GST and about $150 in fees on arrival here in oz.I have 218k points that will expire on April this year. but what he said ^^ I cant see this coughe ending in 2022
You can book a ticket for anybody btw. If you have a work colleague or a friend of a friend then you may be able to book flights that they were intending to pay for - if you can work out a suitable saving for them....Literally don't understand any of it lol
