re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

She called back as promised. All sorted for ADL - BNE - TSV return at 48,000 points and she didn't need to be asked to reduce the copayment. Now I just need to wait for this one to be ticketed correctly. Fingers crossed.

Your co-payment should be $363.10 + CC fee. Don't settle for anything more!

Both bookings now showing up in MMB so I have selected seats on both. Am sitting next to myself on the BNE - TSV - BNE legs. Hope I don't hog my overhead locker space too badly :p

Yes asg29e that was the copayment she quoted, never fear.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Like I said, you're wasting your time waiting. You do not need the csr to call back at all, the terms and conditions seem clear. Any csr that gave contrary advice is simply wrong. If the 2 promos ran concurrently, then the first one register would apply. But they do not run concurrently.

To answer your question the csr has No idea.

No call backs and needed to confirm my bookings so called premium line again spoke with Nabiha, who said exactly the same as you Medhead and could not see any contradiction...she checked both offers and is putting notes in the system for my account ...transferred me through to bookings area and I then booked Mel/Per/Broome Return for 2 people 144,000 points and $1082.32...then the CSR said that I should note there are no changes to this bookings under the T&C's..told her I did not think that was correct as had made U class bookings and changed etc before and that there should be no penalty for changing or cancelling and referred her to ROQ7740..she was a little testy and that suggestion and asked where I was getting my info from and that she would check again, she came back and advised that there were no changes without penalities for economy bookings and that businness if fine but for me to note that it had nothing to do with ROQ7740 but she would ask that document be updated. Long story but hopefully the end and all is OK

Have the new one been ticketed?

I'm wondering whether I should call again. I'm a bit traumatized by all this going back and forth since Sunday :-|

No she warned me it probably would not ticket until tomorrow, after the original one has been cancelled out and refunded.

I would suggest calling if yours is still not ticketed - but double check the points they are going to deduct!

I think the DSC was offered so a lot of us would jump on the phone and teach the CSRs how to book mASAs. It was cheaper than QF paying the staff for a training day. Considering our phone calls may involve a supervisor this also allows our 'one-to-one' training to be shared.

Good idea! Amazing on-the-job training opportunity to educate about MASAs, all in the short timeframe  All I can hope is that MASA booking experience improves from now on, after all the pain and frustration from real users it involves.

The only way the MASA booking experience could improve is if they put it back online for us to book them ourselves.

Yes. The clueless one found it and then said "so what's that document supposed to tell me?"

Did you reply with "the answer to all of life's questions?"

Can someone please explain this to me. I just checked and the classic points were 72,000 for this trip. Is the 48k after sliding it down to increase the co-payment?

I booked yesterday MEL - BNE - TSV return and was told that it was 72,000 + $500. Got it to 100,000 points + 300, but that just doesn't make sense - have I simply been tricked into booking an ASA instead of a MASA?

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Unfortunately I doubt that I will be able to take advantage of the DSC offer.
January is not a good month for travelling as my staff are on holidays (children = school holidays) and other Adelaideans seem to have pretty well used up the good stock. :) :(

No wonder I'm Life Time Tin

ADL-TSV as the crow flies is shorter than MEL-TSV. This pushes MEL-TSV up to a more expensive redemption bracket.

The minumum points for a mASA are based on Orgin-Destination Great Circle Distance., while classics are based on total segment distance.

e.g. TSV-xBNE-DRW is 2460 miles (zone 4) while TSV-DRW is 1156 miles (zone 2).

MEL-TSV is 1274 miles (zone 3) while ADL-TSV is 1192 miles (zone 2)

Eventually got transferred to a supervisor who agreed that ADL - BNE - TSV return is possible at 48,000 points but not the extra MEL/SYD ports that I was quoted. Apparently that was a "misquote". For some reason that she couldn't understand I was charged the copayment in USD, which she wants to reverse and charge in AUD. Now waiting for her to call back (yes I have her name and details in case she doesn't call ;) ) She is looking into reducing the itinerary to ADL BNE TSV return for 48,000 points. Obviously I will be wanting a lower copayment then, but will cross that bridge if I come to it.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

easy experience with the premium desk today. Knew exactly what I was talking about. My request was for an ASA in uniform class

When asked, CSO said "we are doing a lot of these lately". One mistype added a few minutes to the call. 15 minutes and 5 seconds. Not bad. A DSC experience for my daughter. I'll report details in the appropriate thread, but I am more than happy with the experience

Oh what a painful process for something I previously could do online in 10 minutes or less....pleasant CSA on phone who has never done one of these bookings before. After 20 minutes on phone (and being put on hold 3x), Syd-Bne-TSV JASA return booked for 400 SCs (dble SCs promo) on Jan 27th for 48K QF pts + $349.16 + $2.50 booking fee (using Debit MC - previously this was free if using debit MC:shock:). No eticket yet but booking appears in MMB and seats selected.

That it is for what half of AFF's have found, but then again its only been about 5 months! since they took our loved ASA's off line.

Just made my 3rd call to get this same routing ticketed. The CSA assured that nothing is wrong with the booking, the quote is still correct, and will get it manually ticketed (as the automatic ticketing doesn't seem to work in my case). Hopefully yours have better luck with the ticketing process, but remember to check. :)

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Just booked 2 x JASA SYD/JNB/SYD fro April / May next year 168k points per pax +$1010 co payment

Co- Payment was about $690 so happy with price difference for SC and QF points.

Took about 15 minutes and helpful lady to deal with

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Tried twice today to get a BNE-SYD-ADL-ASP return JASA booked. The website is quoting 72,000 points and showing availability in U for all legs, but on my first call I was told the minimum points was 112,000 with a co-payment of $738 and the second call quoted a minimum 128,000 points with a cash component of $806. The classic co-payment is coming in at roughly $240. I should highlight that both CSRs were completely down with the "ASA booked in U" thing and knew exactly what I was trying to achieve, but they said the system was not letting them nominate a 72,000 as the point spend. One of them went to a supervisor to check and said it should be doing 72,000 points but for an unknown reason was knocking it back. Even then the co-payments seem ridiculously high (I'd expected something in the realm of $600). What am I doing wrong?
