Heads up about program changes

I thought QF used to be extremely clever getting us (OK me anyway) to chase status whilst providing an expensive but OK product.
Online MASA's were the only bookings I made with QF over the past five years always burning considerably more points than ASA option. Only flying for leisure and always J+ regardless meant status really was an irrelevant pursuit other than ensuring I could escape row 3 on QFd.
I will always keep some lazy points in QF just to keep my options open but based on availability and value, my 19 current bookings made this year do not involve QF.

but there are convertible seats and convertible seats.

the old three-to-two units TAA and Ansett had back in the 80s/90s were really comfortable. The current 737 QF offering not so much :(
Yes, I remember those.

In the mid 90's all QF 737's were rows 1-2 dedicated "First" with big old broad seating and rows 3-8 (5 rows) were convertable. Rows 4-8 had foot rests.

im just checking my QF timetable from 2000 and it's showing rows 3-7 inclusive with convertible seats, giving a maximum of 28 business class and either 78 or 101 economy (-300 and -400 respectively).

so QF had 28 business and 78/101 economy on 737s compared to 30 business and 210 economy seats on their 767s. I know airfares were comparatively much higher back then in economy, but in today's market... a plane with a 1:2 ratio of business to economy seats would seem to be a good profit driven operation? or maybe the sheer numbers of pax on a 767 make it worthwhile anyway?

I'm a pesky gold now and usually spend an hour or 2 in the lounge

Mrs B likes to get there early.

I'm an extremely pesky silver QP flyer; they must hate me - clients always insist I fly the cheapest fares possible, so yes I garnered WP 3x on a lot of (cheap) International travel, with a lot of Red-e Deals for almost all my connecting flights to SYD etc.

Must admit i like to get there a bit early too, as I can then relax. Last month arrived in JAL Flounge in NRT with around 2.5 hours prior to boarding QF22, after leaving Hyatt in Osaka at 1030 on the hotel coach to Osaka, then local train to Shin Osaka, shinkansen to Shinagawa (pitstop to visit Kinokuniya store to purchase Suntory whisky) and finally NRX to NRT. Wife then wanted to buy some Tokyo Banana, which held us up a bit. While JR pretty much run to the minute, there have been occurrences that have brought the system to a halt.

I'm currently investigating this with the Loyalty team, and hope to have an update asap.

Red Roo, would you happen to have an update for us on the actual cut-off date for bookings and whether re-ticketing the same booking has an impact on the SC and points earn?

Stealth change.

The top version was changed with the lower version sometime in the past few days.

well that makes sense. the prgoram changes were rolled out on the evening of 27 March according to the first post in this thread.

having to have made bookings by midnight the night before was a bit of a push for the three month notice period.

this latest revision fits the three months comfortably.

but - that particular FAQ doesn't mention anything about booking vs ticketing.

I think your edit is correct. It is the exact same earn table as the Qantas earn table.

I'm not so sure. For example, BNE-HKG is 30SCs in discount Y, but the table shows 15. The table is missing some of the fare types though. What has happened to Flex Y, Flex W and Flex J?

Not only are the five year olds up to their usual tricks, but it's Friday afternoon too!

I'm not sure that you are seeing the same table that I am. What I see is a table for Qantas Points earn and not SC earn. The table is the same table as earn for Qantas Points on QF-coded flights.

Must have been to the pub for lunch again LOL :D

No I wasn't, but now it has changed to what you are seeing!

I haven't been keeping track but have QF actually stated that they will be revising points earn for Partner Airlines? If yes, does that mean we can expect some standardisation across all OW partners (resulting perhaps in an increase in earn on carriers like MH and QR but a decrease in AA and US).

I still argue Qantas did away with the three month notification period. For example, if I wanted to earn QF points and SCs at the existing (pre-July 1) rates, I had less than 48 hours to book. As this was a change QF controlled and a benefit QF offers, the three month notice period should have applied. It didn't.

Sadly, no. I'm not holding much hope but it would be nice if Red Roo could come back to us.
