I am starting to feel the same.

All that loyalty. All those points. :(
Admittedly, I never really tried to defend it, but simply made use of the parts that worked out extremely well for me. These days, I'm asking myself - why bother? My year starts in April, and I'll get to 820 SCs by the end of June. With currently planned flights, I should get to 1100 by Nov so retaining WP is no issue at all. However, it feels like I'm simply delaying the inevitable...

Having thought about this for a while, I think QFF is about to shoot themselves in the leg multiple times (not foot - this is much worse).
Here's why:-

- There is no internal data to suggest ppl flying oneworld on a route where QF operates will switch to QF. Those pax had a choice to fly QF but didn't for some reason and QF has little to no idea why a pax decided to fly a non-QF plane (although there's realistically only ~10 different scenarios - all of which QFF/QF would have ZERO data on).
- Economy class travellers already get next to zippo on QFF for flying oneworld, so it will likely have close to nil impact on the 'Y' business, and all the impact in premium cabins.

The idea is sound - to discourage bookings on another oneworld # where a QF# operates.
Problem is that these changes hit the premium international travellers.... the very market they want to retain and grow and there is little to no understanding of why a customer chooses to fly MH over QF to Europe. The reasons I might choose it (eg: to try out MH a380) may be vasty different to John Doe who is doing it because it's $4,000 less than QF. Those doing it for the SC, and have it come from their budget (corp or personally) will soon realise those extra 120 SC isn't worth the $4,000 price difference. IF SC was the issue - they pick them up somewhere else, for much elss.

So unless you're doing a fair chunk of domestic travel - a large majority of these travellers will be better off under another FF program, while still flying QF. This means the only thing saving QFF right now is that most customers want their CC points going to their main program... and my intel suggests there are new airline options on the horizon...

A revamped CX (Asia Miles) program comes out later this year too...

QF shouldn't have ****ed with the oneworld earning table - and instead increase Gold/Plat ~squiggles to 8 segments. Or say 20% of flights must be on QF#. Easier and fairer!

As I have previously commented...

5sc for domestic UK flights, and no earn when flying BA LHR- the UAE is a complete joke.

I don't know who comes up with these ideas, but I know for sure one thing... That I will cost Qantas a lot of money this year using my current status for benefits while moving over to BA. And even when I'm BA Gold (estimate October) , I will still ensure that Qantas is paying the tab whenever I can.

My flight out of LHR on Thursday night even though I could enter with my BA status ... I used my QP life card to enter the AA and BA lounge ;)

That new table is possibly even more confusing than the first. Time to write to BA and CX in HKG requesting a match.

I know that I won't be able to obtain higher QF status this coming year, and even with lower SC earn have jumped on to an AY J fare for our next trip. With an upcoming JASA will maintain current status and my $13K goes mostly to AY, with one leg on QF metal.

No way was I going to fork out $2K more each for QF/EK when I can fly via HKG and get a very good lie flat with CX/AY to HEL. I get J thought CDG and back out of TXL. So convenient, and so much cheaper. As I said in an earlier post QF just doesn't realise that many will choose much more convenient and suitable offers even with lower QFF earn.

New SC table appears to have disappeared from the launch website, replaced by any even more bizarre points table.

Frequent Flyer - Fairer Flying

Down the bottom there are 6 categories of mid-range/international/longer/ultra-long but with no actual distance requirements listed.

Can anyone dispute that this is simply gross incompetence? Its simple - we-hire-people-who-are-just-plain-nincompoops & and-the-supervisors-and-management-are-no-better type stuff.

Putting a points table in rather than SCs and not noticing?

Anyway, what Partner First routes are there servicing Australian short, medium or long domestic?

So how was that lunch with Leslie, where she pointedly defended the 'simpler, fairer' slogan? Any respect left for her?

In a simpler and fairer manner

Errrrrrrrrrrrr NONE

Lets not forget the revised calculator for flights on and from 1 July. It's thouroughly amusing that the current form excludes muti-city searches; hopefully this will change in the near future. The objective of the loyalty program has morphed into creating loyalty and imposing as many constraints as possible to discourage points redemption.

... and can anyone tell me how to interpret this table?

They are talking about cabin bonus, aren't they? Not status bonus, which up the top they say remains unchanged?

No in a simpler and fairer manner what they have done is changed the figure used to calculate Status Bonus Points for example the bonus points earned when flying first was calculated on the First class earn so to keep it simple and fairer lets say that was 1000 base points. silver would earn an extra 500 points Gold 750 and Plat 1000 where as now the bonus rate is based on a different number ie if first class 1000 points however if flying economy on same flight you would earn lets say 500 points and silver an extra 250 Golds 375 and plats 500.

Now if flying first you would earn 1000 base points plus as a plat an extra 500 points based on the Economy rate

so before flying F would earn you

Base Points 1000

Staus Bonus Plat 1000 Total 2000 points
Gold 750 Total 1750 points
Silver 500 Total 1500 points

New Earn on same flight would be

Status Bonus Plat 500 Total 1500 Points
Gold 375 Total 1375 points
Silver 250 total 1250 points

Seems simpler and fairer to me :) :)

Admittedly I try my best at times to defend QF but now I give up :(
Their program, their right to initiate changes but seriously two months on and we are still in the dark about partner earning.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a J rtn to LHR for Sep and looking at this dogs breakfast (coupled with the $9.2K they are asking for my flight) will need to go with another airline and possibly program.
This is no way to retain customer loyalty.
Total joke and it's not even funny

BA have a sale on at the moment......

It might sound petty but I'm with you. I have a oneworld Explorer later this year where, thanks to the decision to penalise me for changing an existing booking made well in advance of March 27/28/29 (date and time changes to a booking reference that stays the same but creates a new ticket number, thereby apparently subjecting me to the new rules) I will credit everything to my existing AA Emerald membership. However, I'll do my best to access lounges based on my QF membership.

Qantas seems intent in penalising us even when we fly Qantas, with the latest ticket surcharges for certain days of the week a case in point. Well, I'm goign to penalise Qantas even when I don't fly them. Seems fair to me.

Qantas continues to penalise me for my loyalty; I see no reason to pat them on the back.
