Heads up about program changes

In fairness, it wasn't Leslie defending the simpler slogan.

This is what I remembered seeing:

AFF Q: How could you describe the changes as simpler in any way?

QF A: It can be overwhelming at first. But when you get into details of the way you earn it can be more simple. They don't know how many miles there are between 2 points but from a consumer POV it's much simpler. The old list is taller than Justin.

...unless you mean it wasn't actually Leslie Grant answering that question :)

Edit: posted before I saw your reply above

Not to defend Qantas, but there has been discussion around how the new partner earn rates are now more in line with other carriers. I suppose that's the "fairer" element?

Either way, it's not a customer attracting move.

How so? If I credit to BAEC and fly QF or CX, depending on the fare I may not earn 1 point/1 mile but I do earn the full SC.

Exactly, I think they have got themselves confused about it and will lose customers acrossn the board rather than push them onto QF metal at higher fares.

Any idea when the SC earn on partner airlines will be restored to the website Red Roo ?
(I'm secretly hoping that's it's removal was due to it all being a nasty mistake and it will come back in a new improved form like Bobby from Dallas ;) )

.....and I Dream of Jeannie. Well you did bring Dallas into the conversation.

BAEC is an exception. Most other carriers do not give full status earn to partner carriers.

For a lot of programs, status earn is more mileage based (eg AA) and it depends on booking class. However usually this means if you are flying on anything other than discounted Y, most carriers do give full status earn to partners. Can't think of too many where status earn in business class is half of the "home" carrier.

Wow... I'd love to take a copy of that chart and then argue with Qantas that they owe me at least 400 Status Credits on my Domestic Australia Short Flights post-1 July. It is official published material after all. And I'm doing some AA flights in August/September in First... 5,200 Status Credits will help me to LTG. Thank you, I'll take that one.

Qantas would simply argue that errors on their web site are a common occurrence and any reasonable person would know that nothing there should be taken as gospel.

Sadly.

My ongoing quest for a clear and definitive answer to my situation has taken a turn for the better. (I have a oneworld Explorer reservation original booked and ticketed last year but some routine date changes have resulted in the ticket being exchanged, although the booking reference remains the same.) Two separate agents at the FF centre have today confirmed I'm good to go: changes after 27/28/29 March that result in a new ticket number will earn at the old/existing/better rates, as the booking reference remains the same. The second agent was quite clear, saying several times that what matters is the date the booking was actually created. I gave him the reference and he could see that the record was created months ago, confirming that despite new ticket numbers, I won't be penalised by the new earnings. He added an annotation to the booking in my membership confirming what he'd said.

It's still very concerning how different agents say different things. Even the first agent referred to "bookings made by 28 March", which contradicts the website. But at least I now have the information clearly noted alongside the booking. I'll be writing to Qantas informing them I expect they will uphold that information and that note.

I'm hoping it was taken down due to a review of what everyone has been telling them since it went up in the first place.

When I go into it and use the link even that I provided earlier it is the same chart as above as of 2 minutes ago
