Heads up about program changes

They mean North and West, not north-west.

I printed the whole 'Introducing a simpler, fairer flying program' section on the web, with all the tables, on 27 March. This should be the original version, I think. My head was spinning trying to interpret them on-screen.

I can scan them and make it available if it would be of any use.

Here is a screenshot of the scanned document. The table was printed out on 3 April 2014 and it is the partner SC earn table published at that time. You'll see I didn't get the table headings when printing it out. I think this was posted up thread a bit. Hopefully this version is more readable.

Thanks, but it is all pretty sad reading. Previously SYD-HKG-HEL-CDG-HEL-BKK-SYD in J (all with separate flight #) would have brought in about 600 SC, and now down to 320.

Red Roo

Perth to Dubai for a random, mid week dates in October costs $2048 return in economy. earning 30SC
Adelaide to dubai is $2054, same dates. Earning 20SC
Sydney to dubai is $2064 to $2164, same dates. Earning 20 SC

I'm having trouble understanding how that earning structure rewards those who pay more. Fairer?

It's back online again, no changes from a quick glance at it.
Still the same stupid SC earn rate
East Coast -Middle East 80 in J
West Coast-Middle East 120 in J

:(

I think mileage monkey would be the best bet at the moment. MileageMonkey

Otherwise, use the mileage table here to get an indication: Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Status Credits
In fact, that table should be valid in conjunction with the old airline earning table here: Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions

Thanks, medhead

I have PDF'ed all those in case of a dispute later on.

Mileage Monkey does not have QF logo so kinda of hard to rely on that to argue your case.

In all honesty though, ignoring the fact that you can't book the same flights on *A, the miles are just barely enough to make it to Krisflyer silver, and you wouldn't gain any status at all with CX MPC.

But if QFF is going to operate at this level, I'm sure people will start to look around at alternative programs. Whether they move or not is a different question, but it certainly gets people thinking.

Could you fly via SIN on SQ and credit all to Aegean?

Number of separate flights ticketed in the next 6 weeks: 25

Number on Star Alliance: 19

Number on One World: 2
Including number on Qantas: 1 (Hobart to Sydney)

On the flipside, if able to access an address outside of Australia/NZ this route would earn 640 BA tier points, enough to get BA Silver (equiv. to QF Gold). And I assume would be enough to get star gold through Aegean as well.

Back of a fa_ packet calculation. If OATEK trip was credited to BA (need 4 x BA flights a year) it would earn 720TP - securing BA Silver (OWS) and just shy of 50% for BA Gold (OWE), chuck in a few J SYD-PER-SYD or SYD-SIN-SYD or SYD-HKG-SYD, etc @ 280TP a piece - BA Gold is in the bag.

In my calculation I assumed HEL-CDG-HEL with AY would earn 160TP.....

Hmm, I used this chart - BA/AY short haul+ ...... will admit I've got no idea what the BA/AY short haul+ means ;)

Interesting. If you put LHR into the calculator it brings up 80, but other European destinations (including those further, such as MAD), it only brings up 40. Of course the sweet spot is SYD-HKG-HEL-LIS return ... HEL-LIS is >2000 mi, therefore 140 ... so that would put someone well onto the way of BA Gold/OW Emerald.

Is there anyway we can have "table/calculator" for SC earnings on bookings made before that SIMPLE & FAIR day - (for travel after July 1st) ?

The QF calculator for "travel before July 1st" refused to calculate a simple LAX DFW route, saying there is "no direct flight".

How could I argue etc... when it does not match up with QF promise of old earning rates ?

This is a beta version of my new SC calculator, but it still includes the tabs for the current (old) SC earn. PM me if anything is not clear :).

I've booked MEL - BKK (JQ Business Max, yes I know, but I pay for my own tickets) BKK - HEL -LHR with AY in business return in October and having double checked with QF premium line I'll get 600 SC. But it only works if you fly via BKK and not via SIN! I've also got a LHR - SOF return with BA Club Europe which gives me 60 SC each way. And I've got LGW - JER in BA CE, it gives me only 20 SC instead of 40 SC. According to QF prem. help line that's because Jersey is in the UK, which it isn't, but if QF does not know where Perth is that is understandable. The MEL -LHR return all in J costs me $4900, not bad for 600 SC, but a lot of fiddling around, and not much good if you are business traveller in a hurry and it does involve Death Star, and BKK might be a bit of a worry! Before the Enhancement, I would have got 80 SC LHR - SOF and 40 SC LGW - JER.

Actually, Jersey is part of the United Kingdom, but not part of the British Isles. Or it is the other way around? Thank God it is simpler and fairer. JV:confused:

BTW, just a heads up that the new beta calculator should work for SCs, but not the points. I'm pretty sure the base points are OK, but the status bonus was still a work in progress when I last uploaded to AFFF. I've fixed the status bonus in my version but was waiting for clarification on the partner earn before spending any more time on it.

There hasn't been any feedback/bugs/"enhancements" reported on the other thread so please give this a good flogging and report back to me and I'll incorporate/fix/"enhance" as appropriate.

Hmmmmm!

England = England
Great Britain = England, Wales and Scotland (although possibly for not much longer)
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland = England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

Not sure where Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man fit in.

are they somewhere near Perth? (asks the Qantas intern)

I think you are right.

I couldn't see it coming. I think Qantas is contemplating a new surcharge for redeeming awards. Your QFF points and all the other taxes and surcharges aren't quite enough.

Forget my dream of 8 Oneworld awards. Need a drastic change of plans.

Started a couple of months ago with having over 600K QFF points, I now have just over 4K left (multiple international JASA, PASA, and Classic awards). Now, what toaster can I get for 4K??!! ;-)
