Heads up about program changes

Only being a tadpole in a big pond, a lot of this is unlikely to impact greatly on my already minimal existence in the QF FF scheme of things. I now use whichever is the cheapest airline for my needs. I am currently in Osaka,Japan, and used AirAsiaX to get here, avoiding both QF and JQ. I found them very good, and the quirky A330-300 layout was user friendly. On time or early on both sectors, something that can't be said for many full service airlines!

Ever since the loss of ATA, it's been a long slide downwards.
I thought the beginning of the long slide downwards was the enhancements in May 2005 just after I joined AFF.

The biggest losses was Upgrade credits which I could not quite appreciate in those days but which would have been well received by me a few years later.

Bugger! Sam is right!

Should have read the table better! Just booked a JASA for next year and realised if I waited till tomorrow I actually would have earned another 5K!!

Misread the "simplified" earnings table and thought I was gonna lose 40SC.... but it's actually the same ;)

Actually, I take my prior post back - there is a caveat:

Sadly the link goes back to a 404 error web page ...

Maybe they will not.

Red Roo - Direct Question. "Will Any Seat Awards for travel in P, X, Z or U classes booked and ticketed from March 29th until June 30th 2014 earn points and Status credits as per the rates listed in this page: Frequent Flyer - Fairer Flying for First, Discount Economy, Premium Economy and Business respectively - even though those classes are not listed on that page."

Important question I think that needs to be answerwed pretty quickly.
I am looking at using a lot of points and paying a lot of my hard earned later in the year. If no Status etc then I will simply book the lot on Classics burn my points and not worry about extra earn for points and Status. I will still ( and my family) get into the Business Lounge.
I still havalmost 1 million Velocity points racked up so in future I will get 2 cards, one linked to QFF and the other Velocity and I will simply work out which is better for the respective flights and use them. i have always been happy on the rare occasion I have flown Virgin

In other words, a booking made tomorrow into U fare bucket will earn at the new rate. Right? But the new rates do not have "U"???!!! Have I missed something?
Go to the terms and conditions of the program. The text below the Qantas tables state that XPUZ will earn for ASA bookings made by June 30.

This is not aimed at you in any way but this is one of the biggest issues.

An Anyseat award is cheaper than an economy airfare? This is something seriously wrong if that is the case. And then coupled with a double SCs offer and you have instant status to use on those $9 JQ status match to Tiger to use the First Lounge for ~6-7 hours.

I kept saying that Qantas were gutless and could not make a decision to save the airline. This may not be the perfect solution but at least they are trying.

cheaper only if you compared the dollar spend for each fare. $280 for Y, but $143 plus points for J. Don't forget that points *do* have a value.

Why do some keep saying that ASA 's were a problem? QF made money both ways, in issuing points and then making even more in their redemption.

There's a reason why it so profitable.

What exactly is an "Ultra-long International Flight"? RTW? (They seem to have covered every possible permutation with regard to AU-US/AU-UK/AU-ASIA.)

I think QF still has a codeshare on the AY flight SIN-HEL. That's the only flight I can think of.

Edit: Just realised this would fit in the "Europe/UK to Asia". It gives the same amount of SCs as this Ultra-long haul category anyway.

I think after the barrage of venom on this thread, Red Roo is probably out having a very large scotch!

and I agree with Orca:
A lot of hate going on here... Don't worry Qantas - I still love you (and Red Roo!!!)
You gotta love the way out of 500 plus people only Orca likes this post Not much loyalty anymore for this loyalty program it seems.

Perhaps I'm just fortunate - the places I tend to fly, QF flies there: LAX, JFK, LHR, HKG, HNL

and Brisbane based as well ;) meanwhile I wait for the QF international metal out of Perth............(sounds of crickets.....)
