Have you possibly looked at another airline to see how the prices are, and also look at it 6-12 months out?
Air fares to/from CBR are always going to be more around parliament sitting as well. Supply and demand here, I don't think QF are raising the prices constantly.
They actually are constantly raising fares. I realise they will always be higher when parliament is sitting but I am referring to the normal standard red-e-deal which is available most of the time.
let's take CBR-SYD as an example. Virgin seems to be constant at $105 (plus baggage etc.) Qantas was $79 a few years back and that was the standard price. About two years ago fares got raised significantly to $129, and since then they've been going up gradually in small increments. When the carbon tax was brought in last July they increased to $139, and since then it's gone up to $140, then $144, then this morning I noticed they were $145.
I like Qantas and want to fly with them but each time they increase fares like this, while Virgin doesn't, it makes me more and more inclined to use the competition. Both airlines have frequent services throughout the day and the service is virtually identical on a flight of ~30 minutes, so on this route in particular price is a large deciding factor.
