Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

Have you possibly looked at another airline to see how the prices are, and also look at it 6-12 months out?

Air fares to/from CBR are always going to be more around parliament sitting as well. Supply and demand here, I don't think QF are raising the prices constantly.

They actually are constantly raising fares. I realise they will always be higher when parliament is sitting but I am referring to the normal standard red-e-deal which is available most of the time.

let's take CBR-SYD as an example. Virgin seems to be constant at $105 (plus baggage etc.) Qantas was $79 a few years back and that was the standard price. About two years ago fares got raised significantly to $129, and since then they've been going up gradually in small increments. When the carbon tax was brought in last July they increased to $139, and since then it's gone up to $140, then $144, then this morning I noticed they were $145.

I like Qantas and want to fly with them but each time they increase fares like this, while Virgin doesn't, it makes me more and more inclined to use the competition. Both airlines have frequent services throughout the day and the service is virtually identical on a flight of ~30 minutes, so on this route in particular price is a large deciding factor.

So how many flights have you taken on each carrier in the last 12 months? As if you still fly predominately QF they are business wise correct in raising their airfares until they see pax leaving for the opposition.

You are correct, I still do fly predominantly QF, although my point was that I might reconsider if the fare difference becomes even larger.

Over the past 12 months on the CBR-SYD route, I've flown Qantas 11 times and Virgin twice, but out of the QF flights 4 were on sale fares and 4 were connecting with QF international flights.

I hear what you are saying, but.....

I guess that illustrates why they charge the way they do. Only way to change it is to switch sides. I guess they will push until enough jump but at current prices its still "thinking about jumping" rather than actually jumping.

Certainly, historically, the pollies were not using VA. so consuming QF capacity and allowing QF to force higher prices to be charged for everyone else.

Why is it that when I search for flights but not logged in, then I want to see if any classic seats are available, so I select that option; I'm then directed to the log in page (appropriate) which I do, and then instead of going back to the search of flights I'm redirected to my account page and all searches are gone. (I know, I should log in first...)

Because it is set up by Gen Y or Gen Z people?

EH

Why is it that you allow your crew to store their bags in the overhead lockers above the first rows of economy forcing your usually higher status customers to store their bags further back in the plane with the inevitable scrum at landing to get to their bags?

Why is it that I can't use the Bpay option when booking from Singapore? I have a perfectly good Australian bank account I could be using to avoid paying the credit card fee :(

They don't charge credit card fees ex-SIN.

Agree - or they store them in the last couple of rows. It shouldn't be allowed, particularly when there are bulkheads and exit rows - it just forces pax in that row to store their bags further back. It shouldn't be allowed to happen

Um - Is this a serious question?

I agree with the question after all think about it with CX in Hong Kong even when on a QF flight OWE can still use the F Check in, Singapore OWE can use the premium check in irespective of which airline they are using. So why cant we use QF F Check in for Emirates or any other OW airline for that matter?

Um - Is this a serious question?

Yes why would it not be?

For example today I had 4 cases with me (all work stuff ) I would have loved the help of the porter at theF lounge would have made life much easier.

I've done it plenty of times with other carriers, but I guess I'm not being serious?

Can OWE use the premium check-in in SIN for a CX flight? Don't think I've ever seen the airline's logo there, and CX has their own J and F check-in queues.

Why can't I use QF F checkin when flying on a QF flight number on EK metal?

I would have thought in most places around the world you checkin with the operating carrier on code share flights. makes sense to me.

Indeed... CX F will send you to KA F to check-in for code-shares.

Ive had CX F check me in for KA code shares plenty of times in many ports, HKG, TPE even in KHH, Ive never had any push back from them.

I guess what with the "Seamless experience between both EK and QF" ;)

QF are not the ground handling agent for EK & therefore don't have access to the EK checkin system to check you in.

Hehehe of course and I got that but it's more the "seamless linking of both carriers so you won't notice any difference in service levels" when travelling on either.

woahhh.
so if you're Qantas Platinum or PlatinumOne and say, flying in economy on qf flight number with ek metal, can you use the Emirates First Class Check In?
