That's dear... damn dear !!!! why on earth would anyone buy a Business ticket to travel Economy when there is no Business seats on that flight, ...oh forgot... Qantas IS run by an Irishman

Clearly an error. It would be due to the B717 doing some of those flights and offering J.

Qantas, why is that my e-ticket and receipt for flights booked on line via the QF website does not state the booking class or fare type, only the cabin? It contains these sentences:

Fare Restrictions - Refer to the applicable fare rules as special conditions may apply
Additional Fees:
Fees may apply to some booking changes, ticket reissues and consultant-assisted services. Details are available at qantas.com.

but no information as to the booking type. Yes, I can get it from MMB and then looking for the fare restrictions but why not put it in the 8 pages of information issued with the e-ticket? It would be much more helpful than all the information about baggage allowances for international fafes when I have booked a dom ticket. I no problem having both although, I think some could find it confusing, my issue is not getting what I consider to be basic information about my booking; the terms and conditions.

Wouldn't that be fairer and simpler? More transparent?

TBH, I'm surprised QF actually show the fare bucket on MMB.
I seems there a long standing philosophy related to the the "mushroom principle".

I agree QF like to treat us as mushrooms…

I expect that thre is a legal requirement for the pax to be able to see the booking class so that s/he knows (i.e. can hunt around the website to find) the T&C. Otherwise QF would have trouble enforcing them.

Given that QF FF is into 'fairer and simpler' I naively thought this might filter across the whole business. This is certainly 'simpler' in Qantas-speak and probably 'fairer' if we cannot find the booking class or T&C on the e-ticket (i.e. the contract)

No problem if using your script! I have found many airlines are quite happy to show the fare bucket in your e-ticket receipt (eg CX had D against my recent booking, and AY are showing I), and I do wonder why QF wants to keep it under wraps.

Why is it that flights I booked on 01 September with credit card did not have tickets issued until 2 days ago when I called to enquire why I couldn't access booking.

I needed this spend in September not 2 days ago to ruin an Amex promotion.

I take it that Amex didn't come around to your way of thinking then?

Why is it that Qantas offers a Premium Companion 'Sale' where the Business Class fares with the restriction of having to travel with someone else are more expensive than travelling alone? And substantially more expensive than most alternatives of a similar standard (lie-flat beds, etc)?

Any example? I would have thought this only happens if I class has only 1 seat for sale, so the booking reverts to the D fare bucket.

Amex have in email but not yet confirmed.

I still don't understand why ticketing has not yet happened ~6 weeks after booking flights. That can't be good for the business?

Sorry - should have explained better.

Example of what I meant:

- companion offer is $6997- MEL-LHR Business Return
- current comparable competitor flights (CX, QR, EY, BA) are all low-mid $6K fares for comparable periods in 2017, no need to fly with anyone else

Doesn't seem like much of a Sale to me...

I have award flight QF12 booked 8 months ago still not ticketed. 131313 says its in the queue and not to worry about it

LOL. I had an award flight in September that I'd changed 2-3 times but change fees not charged. I wonder if they'll ticket flight already flown later and ask for points change fees? :p

It's Qantas' definition of a sale :).

Yet I've had several award flights and paid flights with QF for next year ticketed within minutes. Their concept of a queue isn't what a normal person considers to be a queue. But then, QF also has a pretty poor concept of Priority Boarding queues.

in my experience it is when you make changes that ticketing really slows down. I did some award flights for my daughter and her partner for next July - ticketed straight away. Then I phoned up and changed them to add a Mel-cbr leg (couldn't do at the time and I was booking day of release of the lax-Mel leg). Girl took Cc details and said they had gone through (akl centre). Three months later no new ticket issued, so I phoned again. Hobart centre I think. Girl said they needed cc details gave them again, said they had gone through and tickets would be received in 48 hours. 3 days later, no tickets, no charge on CC for taxes and no points taken for change fee. Giving up until around May....
