Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

It's all about being aspirational. It may make people buy tickets on Qantas, but I'm willing to bet the majority of people who do will not be buying anything but Y or maybe W fares.

The contestants probably had zero idea it was not the normal lounge that J pax would use, so they wouldn't be lying. The producers should know better, but i'm willing to bet QF didn't care that it wasn't corrected.

It's a little misleading, but the amount of people who would book a J seat and then not realise why the lounge was different would be in the very low numbers i'd say.

I had an interesting conversation with NP's side-kick at a QF lunch once about the Masterchef episode several years ago in the F lounge kitchen... let's say that what was shown on TV was in no way anywhere near how the day actually ran (including stopping filming to bring the actual chefs back in to catch up).

'Reality' TV (anyone seen UnREAL??) at its finest ;)

Indeed. We know 2 reality TV contestants. One "lost" because they followed the rules, and the winner didn't follow the rules. They were told they could just take it and leave, otherwise the producers would edit up some footage to make them look very bad if they kicked up a stink. That was a cooking show.
Other person was in a singing show. They did the producers' recommended song, first comment from the judges - "that song doesn't really suit you". And they were out.
All a massive con - the producers know who they want to win and they cut the film to support it.

I suspect that this sort of behaviour is all too common in all walks of life...

So I actually watched the episode last night. To be fair, the F lounge was shown for all of 5-10 seconds, and they said "the Qantas lounge is lush" or some such, but no actual mention of the class of lounge. No big deal IMHO.

Hey QF, why is it that I can book MEL>STL return in Y with AA flight numbers for $700 cheaper rather than direct through QF on the same aircraft and connections!?

However, in currently comparing AA with QF for Oz to USA flights I can only book early June with AA, compared to late June on QF website.

That's exactly my point. Many prospective passengers wouldn't know it was the F lounge - so if they bought their once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon ticket they might expect to get the lounge they saw on telly.

A lounge looking like that could certainly influence the purchase of a ticket on QF over another carrier.
Agreed but you would be surprised how much your once in a lifetime travellers are going to notice the difference in lounges when they finally get around to booking flights years later.

Just received an email from Qantas offering a 150 point bonus for downloading the QF app to my Android or iPhone smart phone

Err, I have a Windows phone, where is my option Red Roo?

Seems there are other places some people expect me to be wandering

Fred

PS: Thank you, no.

Yes indeed, the app can stay where it is, i.e. not on my phone.

Not sure you can blame Qantas for not supporting a phone type with low and falling market share.... it isn't cheap supporting multiple phone platforms.

Agreed. Quite often Android apps even have only marginal return because the $ per spend on them is still so much lower than iOS users. I'd say something like 'androids are for people who can't afford iphones' but I won't because I'd be torched ;)

Or those that can't stand apple? Just maybe....

You might have to put your windows phone in the same drawer as the golden wing membership...
And alongside the Blackberry, Dick Smith and Brashs voucher

Blackberry has finally given up with its own OS and is moving to Android.

OTOH if a windows app runs on the desktop it should run on the windows phone with the proviso you have display real estate issues. And it was cheaper than an Android (with dual SIM space included).

I unfortunately had to sell my Goldwing (Honda version) in 1991 . Not quite sure what kind of membership I had though...

Happy wandering

Fred

I'm afraid that isn't how it works. Windows PC apps cannot run unchanged on the Windows phone. So while there is some commonality in the UI (tiles etc), the name Windows is not a guarantee of application availability.
