HHonours Status Match

I'm Gold via Hilton Macq card, and apply for a status match with my SPG Platinum, and got the Platinum email and says if I complete 8 stays, then it will be extended till 2019.. can I assume it's gonna be until 2018, if I didn't managed to get 8 stays within 90 days ?

If it is the challenge from the first post of this thread, it is for 90 days. If you do the 8 stays in that time, it will move to March 2019;.

I was looking around for a status match as thought my Diamond would expire. I had only managed Gold this year due to switching stays to Hyatt.
Fortunately I qualified for the new status extension Diamond Status Extension
Must apply by March 31st
I had under the requirements to keep Diamond so I rang the Diamond desk yesterday to use my one off extension and was told not to use it up as I had kept it due to the Macquarie CC. (I didn't think I had spent anywhere near enough on it)

The catch though was/is to ring them back if for some reason I drop to Gold. The trouble is, as I see it, that if I should happen to drop to Gold then I won't have access to the Diamond desk :!:

I don't know if I got any sort of letter as we have been away since mid March and don't get back until 5th April.

Does your My Account>My Hilton Honors Card show as Diamond, EXP 03/18? You may be in for a surprise.

thanks for your prompt reply.. and im re-reading the email from Hilton, it mentioned that I need 8 stays to be Diamond till march 2019, does that means it's actually till Mar 2018 only ?

My bad. Sorry. I thought it was a simple status match rather than a challenge. AFAIK if you fail to meet the terms of a challenge, you get immediately bounced back to the bottom rung.

I think quite a few have mentioned that reward, Bill. It appears to be a thank you gesture. It'll be interesting to see where it goes!

I know it was asked earlier if these SMs are "once only" but has anyone managed to be matched twice?

I got a straight IHG Plat -> HH Diamond in Dec 2015 and just dropped to Silver at the end of March. Hoping to get another IHG Plat -> HH Diamond SM and at least score Gold after 4 stays.

I can answer my own question. The answer is "Yes". eMail arrived o/n: "SYD, you've upgraded to Diamond status!" :) So I got an original straight match IHG Plat -> Diamond and now again on the "Challenge".

Perfect timing for Easter in New Caledonia. Pity my flight was cancelled today thanks to Cyclone Cook! and those 90 days are still ticking....

They have been generous lately and it never hurts to ask.

What expiry does your card show when you pull it up online in your account?

Hilton sent out 125k wrong emails advising members of the wrong tier. I think this was only at the end of March but it may have been more recent. I received on. I got a match in 2016 to Diamond through 3/2018. However, about 30 March I got an email from Hilton congratulating me on my new upgrade to Diamond until 3/2019. I phoned Hilton. It's an error. They gave me 5k points.

Being a "status challenge" my expiry is 9 July 2017 if I don't have four stays (to land on Gold) or eight stays to stay Plat - through to March 2019 (I believe).

How do you see card/status expiry online? I've never been able to.

Under My Account on the Honors Page click on the My Hilton Honors Card. Your card will show with the expiry date on the bottom right corner. Until recenlty it has been missing and you had to request a card to get the date.

I'm also on the status challenge. The confirmation email I got said my new status is valid until 25 June 17, while my card online says simply "Exp 06/17", which implies 30 June. The reason this is important to me is that I have 7 stays booked (or completed) during the challenge period, so I need just one more to retain Diamond until March 19. I am going away again on 26 June, and I could stay at a Hilton property that night, but I'm not sure if that stay would be counted as being within the challenge period or not. Anyone know how strict they are about this?

Failing that, does anyone know if I book a cheap night at a Hilton property, checkin with my phone, but not actually show up, would I get credited with a stay?

Interestingly, my card looks like a Mar 2019 EXP - but it's a bit garbled.... And I expect that to change if I don't meet the challenge requirements...

Anyway, pretty sure any stays after your deadline won't count. But anything within the worldwide time zones through to 25 Jun Hawaii time will. As for online checkin but actually a 'no show' - I believe that has been discussed here before but doesn't work for HH? Perhaps someone else knows better.

If you can quantify the 'value' of Diamond over Gold for your own travel patterns then perhaps a local staycation (aka Mattress Run) in MEL is the go? Sunday nights can often be quite cheap. Pop over, check in and go home... Come back for the comp Diamond breakfast (for 2!) and checkout....

Also, points stays count if that helps.

Thanks. Yes, the Melb option is a good idea. I just booked a stay at the DoubleTree for 22,000 points in mid June. I think Diamond for an extra 21 months is worth that number of points. It's possible some other work trip will come up between now and 25 June, and if so if I could always cancel this additional one.

Hi Hilton Experts,

Went for the Diamond status challenge as well
Just wanted to get your opinion before booking between Hilton and Marriott, so the challenge is "8 stays"
I've booked 2 rooms for 4 days in Amsterdam
and will be looking at booking 2 rooms for 9 days in Barcelona, i presume that's 4 stays. I'm thinking heck if its just 4 stays i might just stay with Marriott

Is it worth/even possible doing breaking up the booking into individual dates for "stays" so i get status on both for 'flexibility' as I've met the Marriott cap this year
I somehow recall being a Hilton diamond many years ago it was measured in nights which is odd.

Thanks again guys/girls

Sure ... that is sort of like what is termed a "Mattress run", although that's generally with the one chain have more than the one property in a city.

bear in mind that consecutive nights in the same hotel will be considered as 1 stay..

I haven't done a multi room booking for some years now, but I think that is just 2 stays. You get the points for both rooms, but only the room you sleep in will class as a stay/night AFAIK. Both Amsterdam and Barcelona each have multiple properties, so jumping between properties will give you your 8 stays easily enough if you want to do that.

Thanks Serfty/annielee/swanning_it,

Hmm the option of the "mattress run" sounds fun but rather in convenient, knowing the group i'm going with might be lazy checking-in and out multiple hotels.
Does booking individual nights so each night has a separate booking reference and "stitching" them up work in that case?

thanks again all for your responses
