We're on that flight tomorrow to LAX. ( J booked through LM). If we can provide assistance please let us know.

Very sad.

Its a small world isn't it! If you have time and want to help just talk to Scott, short guy with shaved head traveling with this beautiful woman and kids >>> https://www.mycause.com.au/page/84618/loveforthefitzgibbins

I would say help with bags etc would be best bet, but yeah, see what Scott says, tell him you know me (Troy).

I only just found this fundraising for the family on Facebook, there has been an absolutely massive response, shared on FB over 2500 times and smashed the $15k target.

I urge you to give what you can regardless of the current total funds raised as Scott will be a sole parent of 4 young boys in the foreseeable future, there are plans in progress to set up trust funds for the boys for their education and future.

Another update too, Kevrosmith has organised the USO at DEN to meet the family at the gate and assist them where possible. USO is United Service Organisations, for the four services and coast/national guard, great idea. They have lounges in most major AP's and are free to access, they also support coalition troops and their families, such as Scotts.

Many thanks to all that have helped, so amazing!

Wow - well done people. You've won the internet today. It's so lovely to see people reaching out to others to help. It should happen more often.

I hope there will be support for return journey too.

Amazing response from an awesome community. Good on you Troy (and everyone else, especially QF WP and the anonymous UA donor) for assisting!

Can't even begin to imagine what a trip like this must be like, apart from incredibly hard.

Troy - the donation link has been shared on a large Facebook group too, so there may be some more donations coming (I'll be sending mine shortly).

Cheers,
Febs.

Phew, just read through this thread with a tear in my eyes. It's heartwarming to see responses to help from individuals, and individuals within companies to make Jennifers' journey a little more comfortable. If anything good can come out of such a tragic story then at least it's reminded me how important in life your friends and family are.
I hope Scott and his family have as wonderful a time in Canada as these difficult times will allow and thank you Bomi18. Your a true friend indeed.

Impossible not to be touched by such a harrowing story. Also admire Bomi18 for his determination to help, and all the AFFers who have responded, making the best of a truly heartbreaking situation.

Hi Febs,

thanks mate and thanks very much for putting me onto AFF, I got a photo from Scott late last night of him and his family all smiles at the Q Club lounge in Darwin, best pic ever. He said Jen was ecstatic at what we as a collective have done for their trip.
I just hope that UA can really look after the family on the flight. Time will tell.

Mate we'll certainly keep an wether eye out this morning. I'm ashamed to report I have been hit with a severe case of gout this morning and an barely walk - but the other half is hale and harty so between us both we'll see how they go.

I have only just caught up with this thread but it makes me very proud to be in the company of some very worthy fellow AFF members. All praise to Bomi18 for getting the ball rolling and to those who have been able to help. Good on yer!

Well it's travel day and I'm sure they are probably on their way to the airport now. Bomi18, thanks for sharing the link to the donation page with the photo.

You now have your own photo that shall be treasured forever.

May UA come through today. Fingers crossed.

The UA App doesn't make for good reading apparently. J appears almost full (38 seats out of 40) plus a lot on standby for upgrade [according to my AFF ;)]

unless that means they've shifted some Y+ pax to J to accomodate the Fitzgibbins ;) :D

here's hoping...

Hi Bam hope the legs get better soon. The family will be in the QANTAS business lounge thanks to QANTAS!!

they will board the UA flight first hopefully.

Scotts a good guy, pretty hard time he is going through at the moment but if you chat to him and say you know Troy who he works with and offer to help I reckon he'd be stoked for anything you they'd need help with :-)

Well, doors should be closed by now - assuming flight isn't delayed. Having a cuppa thinking about the family - explained to Mrs QF WP what the community were able to do and she was rapt.

Don't know if Global Services were able to do much in the circumstances ...we'll have to wait to hear a TR ;)

Tried finding the flight on FlightRadar24, but not appearing? Delayed perhaps ??

For those that don't know, here is a photo of Jennifer and her boys.

This is for whom all the work has been done (and Scott her husband). I've been proud to play my small part in bringing them something extra.

Kudos to Red Roo and QF for allowing them access to the Business Lounge this morning

Hope the UA crew are doing their best to look after them. I'm sure there won't be a dry eye ...

Words almost fail me.

This thread personifies the Aussie spirit.

To those AFF members who lended a metaphoric helping hand, and particularly to Red Roo, thank you. It's truly touching stuff.
