Have only just read this thread, and now have tears in my eyes. WOW What an amazing effort to make the family's trip back to Canada more comfortable. It just goes to show what can be done in a time of crisis.

My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time and a big bouquet to Red Roo, QF WP and all the others involved in helping.

We want to add our well wishes to those already expressed It can not be nice to travel knowing that one of your loved ones will not be coming home with you.

Red Roo and QF WP well done on your efforts I am sure it is much appreciated by the family. Only hope that UA came to party and upgraded them to make it extra special.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends.

jojen and Ansett, thanks for expressing your thoughts. I think we are all hoping that they enjoyed the Qantas Clubs in DRW, SYD and possibly LAX; with DEN's RCC access a gift from UA.

My understanding is that their booking had a special notation and the CSM of each flight was being made aware of the special circumstances. Hope that the UA pilots may have allowed access to the Flight Deck after arrival in LAX for Scott and the boys.

I think it would be nice to be able to do something for Scott when he returns to Australia with his boys. That will be a harder journey. I'm sure that Bomi18 is probably going to suggest he flies back oneworld ;)

Please keep us posted on that. If nothing else I have some complimentary Qantas Club passes I'd be happy to provide (although I'm not sure if they're valid at LAX).

And as robd thought out loud earlier, if an exception could be made to gifting points, put me down for 20k.

Happy to perhaps donate 10,000 points to a fund to enable a points upgrade to J or perhaps even an award flight where QF comes to the table to wave fes and guarantee an award booking comes available.

Perhaps this is something we should start to discuss with Red Roo ;) ?? Not sure of the logistics or whether that may breach the QFF T&C's (as not family-related transfers), but perhaps they'd allow in these circumstances.

Aquire points can go to anyone? I would happily transfer 20k if something is organised

Another update too, Kevrosmith has organised the USO at DEN to meet the family at the gate and assist them where possible. USO is United Service Organisations, for the four services and coast/national guard, great idea. They have lounges in most major AP's and are free to access, they also support coalition troops and their families, such as Scotts.

I think we are all hoping that they enjoyed the Qantas Clubs in DRW, SYD and possibly LAX; with DEN's RCC access a gift from UA.

Hopefully they made it to the USO Lounge at DEN. The people I contacted were going to organise one of the volunteers to meet them at their arriving flight and escort them to the Lounge, which is in a different terminal to UA's terminal at DEN. On a general note for others: if you do have friends/family who are in the military, they are eligible to access the USO lounges, which are at many airports around USA, including quite a large one at LAX Bob Hope Hollywood USO at LAX - Bob Hope USO. It seems that the facilities provided are often far better than standard USA airline lounges. All they need to show for access is their military identification. USO Centers - United States | USO

A bit late on this one, but magnificent effort by all. We often use our travels to have a gripe or two, but to see the "skills & knowledge" coming out of everyone for a great cause and purpose is amazing and heart warming. Hope everything goes as well it can for the family and count me in for 10K QP's.

I haven't been a member of this forum very long, but you guys are just amazing! Thoughts are with Scott, Jen and boys.

Count me in for 10K!

Happy to donate 10k of points as well
Hopefully QF will allow a fund to be setup
I'm reminded of that saying, there but for the grace of God go I.

Hi all,

thanks for your kind words for the family and those that have helped them.

I'll give Scott a week or so to settle in and Ill ask him how the flight went and what did UA do to help.

As far as a POINTS DONATION I will donate 20K QFF to help Scott and his boys have a nicer flight back to Aus, I have no idea if a points fund or the like could be set up but I think a separate thread with PLEDGES to donate would be good but I would leave this up to a MOD to do.

The Mods spoke about this thread tonight. It's probably too early to know when Scott and the kids will return (and with whom). But we are touched by the generosity and positiveness in the thread. I'll contact Red Roo

Today we even had an offer of assistance for the family whilst in Canada. Awesome stuff...

Let me know what Red Roo says and if there is anything you need from me to help make this happen.

I'm so proud (and a bit humbled) to witness the generosity and compassion of our members in response to this tragic situation.

Count me in for 10K points.
