Hilton Honors Macquarie Platinum Card Discontinued

Well, the good news is that I’m still HH Diamond, according to the Hilton website. Only about 10 stays last year.

So, I’m confident that this will be extended to 31/3/21 from my understanding of the Macquarie blurb.
Same here. I hit $40K this time last year and I am expecting this.

This is an extract from the letter accompanying the new card (apologies for the poor image quality):

Thanks for the letter - I'll look to get my final spend in before 30 April - thought we had until May - important to read these things carefully :)

i still haven't used my first reward certificate which expired last year in Nov . their booking system was down so i called up last week and they said they extended it to nov 30th 2019 this year. where can i find the reward certificate to confirm its been extended after i log in? or do i just have to quote the reward id in the original email i got in 2018. if i put another $2500 spend through before April 30th will i still get another award certificate? or does it have to be 12k? anyone know of the may 1st new point ratio $1 = 1 point is really worth after redeeming them for an e card?

I’ve never been able to find anything on the Hilton site after logging in (other than the transaction that one has been granted). Call Hilton Honors CS and they should be able to advise

Cynical me says the full spend and not pro rata. I can’t see any value in gift cards so actively looking for new card with decent sign up bonus

I am somewhat puzzled; received the new Maquarie card in the mail.

Does the new card have any annual fee? I didn't think so but the paperwork seemed to suggest so.

If you got the card during the no fees for lifetime promo offer, then no ther shouldn't be fees. But as such a low percentage of their cardholders have such a card, I'll bet they either didn't bother to put together a stock letter for them (and just sent you the standard garden variety fee-paying letter); or they didn't code you to get the "fee-free" stock letter. I'd ring up and check - while you're at it, complain about their lack of attention to detail...

Definitely worth a call before activating to make sure - my letter explicitly states in a table that there is a $0 fee for primary and additional cardholders. Good for me as I wasn't even 100% sure I was Hilton free for life (had a fee waiver/reduction once or twice).

Not sure I care but I thought the letter said fee free for the first annual period.
If this arrangement runs true to form , they hope we will just use the card and not notice an annual fee charge sometime in the future.
I see no point in harvesting gift cards and expect to dig out my fee free Woolies .5 qf card as the amex alternative

I've never been fee free and paid the annual fee last June 2018. There is a silver lining - we refinanced our home loan with Macquarie late last year and after receiving the new card, being transferred 4 times on a call last week (Mortgage Solutions were the team to help) we've had the fee removed now as part of our mortgage package. I'm not sure it's the right card, but I do like they will be waiving international fees from 1 JUL 2019. I'll miss the free weekend night - we used ours at Conrad Koh Samui, got upgraded to the best villa in the resort thanks to the Diamond status!

Checked the email and it clearly says an annual fee will apply from the "Next Annual fee date ".
My card was fee free, but I choose to assume that they intend to attempt to charge me a fee at some indeterminate time in the future, for which activity they have buckleys...
I will send them a note after a bit , advising them that if and when an annual fee becomes payable , to please cancel the card and issue a final statement

Got mine in the mail yesterday. No more embossed numbers on the front. Been nervously waiting for one final transaction to post this morning.

Will likely put it into hibernation now. I noticed the GC earn rates on the flier with my new card. Have I calculated it correctly at 2% currently with no cap? Feels like a good alternative to most capped Visa cards. Wonder how long it will be uncapped.

Haven't received the replacement card yet but just got an email from them saying this:

To say thank you for your loyalty, Hilton will also be issuing you a final reward weekend night certificate as you have met or are close to meeting the spend threshold on your credit card. You’ll receive this via email by the end of May 2019.

I have hardly spent anything...

I got the following email just now. I’ll be cutting it up alright but doubt I’ll use their Black card.

I didn't get that extra bit about the reward certificate in my email, probably because I got mine in March when I called up Hilton to check.

No reward certificate here. There will be winners and losers.

Got the same email today, was a nice parting gift as I wasn't going to make the minimum spend on the card this year

The certificate is not going to cost Macquarie/Hilton much, but it will certainly leave us with a good impression of both organisations into the future.
