Hilton Honors Macquarie Platinum Card

It would seem that perhaps this is an issue with this particular hotel as per this blog:
https://windbagmiles.com/2017/05/27...ain-always-waldorf-astoria-amsterdam-edition/

They recommend calling again as another agent may have better luck, but as the blog finishes - what if the hotel then cancels the stay at a later date?
IMHO it depends upon how far ahead the booking is. i.e. if it's soon then it's a risk but if it's in the future and it holds for a 'reasonable' period then I believe it's their problem.

This card is now available with a zero annual fee in the first year for approved applicants before 31 August 2017. No bonus Hilton points but handy if you need to get gold status quickly. With the one free night weekend certificate it represents decent value.

It is not quite free for life as they reserve the right to add a fee in future but it is fee free ongoing from now.

Thanks for the heads up Pele, I have been waiting for this offer to appear again. I have applied again, no approval as yet but have uploaded a payslip for income verification.

From what I can tell they have Apple Pay too which is a positive for me personally. Trying to get away from carrying a wallet everywhere.

If I didn't have HH Gold already till next year I'd be all over it but let's be honest 1 HHonors point per $1 spent is hardly anything to write home about.

Anyone know what the min and max credit limits are? Cant see it anywhere on the website.

Thanks.

Given the new reality from 1 July, this may be a good backup card to have, especially it is no annual fee anyway.

Now that I have a fee free Citibank Signature card, it does not earn any points on government spend at all (plus a raft of others), maybe worth putting those costs into this card instead. The other cards I just churn and burn .....

Hmm, was wondering if this was worth applying for but ongoing annual fee of $0 (or until they change) alters the equation!

In terms of using the free weekend night certificate- i know you have to ring up but if i want to plan before calling is it simply a case of if i can see points availability on a base room then i will be able to redeem the certificate?

My experience of booking HSYD at the start of this year was that if there was a standard guest room available for points redemption then I could book that. Otherwise, there wasn't availability. I searched the Hilton site first to identify the two or three different choices I had before calling back to book.

Similar promo comes back this June, anyone get any application data point this year?

"Pay $0 annual fee when you apply and are approved by 31st August 2017 (annual saving of $295)."
