Nice, good luck with the snow. Will be busy at that time of year, but is hopefully late enough that there will be a snow base. If you are renting use the nearby/associated shop and room charge EVERYTHING, including lift tickets as you get points on all of it! I made it to Gold once by Jan 3 from a HNiseko stay, and Diamond by 20th Jan!!
do you know if its cheaper to buy lift tickets/ lessons early? like in thredbo where you get 20% off if you purchase 7 days before..

Sorry if wrong thread or posted already, but AMEX Connect has $120 cashback from $400 spend through Hilton. Australia and NZ, to 31/1/18. Excludes pre-pays and of course anything not booked direct with Hilton. Can be multiple transactions.

No discounts. Lift tickets are markedly cheaper than AU/anywhere else.
If you are new to skiing, some lessons come with tickets. If already intermediate or advanced, make sure to get all-mountain to have access to the other slopes, not just the higashiyama side.

Also cross posting from the Amex thread...

Reporting on the Hilton offer. Booked last night a pre-paid rate for the HBNE for next month. Received the following email

"Thank you for using Amex Offers with your Card ending *****at HILTON HOTELS & RESORTS. If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will receive a $120.00 credit. Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended. "

Transaction is still showing as pending and no sign of the cash back yet. Will update again in a few days.

About to use this for DoubleTree Melbourne, given when I booked the lowest available rate was $377. Utilising the double points offer as well, so all up $422 less $120 = $302. I can handle that...

Haven't received Daver6's email yet...

Yikes, for that price I’d be staying at the Sofitel or Hyatt.

My recollection is that pre-pays did not count. Hopefully that is incorrect.

Benefits of Hilton Diamond (upgrades and double points) for $302 last minute booking (3 days before stay) including being across the road from Flinders Street train station (which I will be using both days) outweighs no status at either Sofitel and Hyatt and further walk to closest train station. Thankfully, mine isn't pre-paid but I'm interested to hear whether @Daver6's stay works

To be fair, I’ve not stayed at the DT in Melbourne. And it has only been twice that I have scored really good rates at the Sofitel (pre-Platinum status) a week out that got me a Suite and lounge access. Sure was worth it though!

I will not retain Hilton diamond next year. With the demise of HSW it doesn’t phase me. No longer the alliance of choice here, in my view.

Mine worked. Received the cash back on the Amex account about a week after the email confirming. Stay is actually commencing this weekend. Posted on my Amex as Hilton Brisbane.

My stay is tonight, so I presume check out using my Amex tomorrow AM will trigger the refund transaction. No email received yet

On check-in, if the hold on your card is $400-plus, you can expect an AMEX email regarding this (i.e., to the effect that if you meet the conditions you can expect the $120 in 5 days). That was my experience on the weekend.

Exactly as quoted by @DC3 and @Daver6 . Emailed received after checkout and upon checking Amex a week later:

T&C's are silent on that point:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Offer valid January 1, 2018, through April 30, 2018 ("Promotion Period") at any hotel or resort within the Hilton Portfolio excluding Hampton by Hilton Hotels in Mainland China. Hilton Honors™ members must first register at HiltonHonors.com/PointsUnlimited prior to completing a stay within the Promotion Period. Registered Hilton Honors members will only receive Bonus Points for nights completed during the Promotion Period, regardless of a check-in date before the Promotion Period begins or a check-out date after the Promotion Period ends. Registered Hilton Honors members will earn 2,000 Bonus Points per stay during the Promotion Period. Registered members will also receive an additional 10,000 Bonus Points for every 5 stays completed during the Promotion Period. There is no limit to the total amount of Bonus Points that may be earned during the Promotion Period with this offer. However, there are restrictions on the amount of Base Points that can be earned on a single stay at certain brands. See Hilton Honors Terms and Conditions for more details. Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward tier qualification. Please allow six to eight weeks from completion of your stay for points to appear in your Hilton Honors account.

so one could argue they are valid as it only talks about registering first, then completing nights during the promotion period.
