Double points for paying with Visa in Asia Pacific from 1 October to 31 December 2018.

Previously I have been able to stack this with the normal double points promo (Triple Diamond promo last year) and the Amex cash back offer by having a Visa on file for payment but paying at the hotel on seperate cards with enough on each Amex (4 cards for a week in Adelaide for the Ashes last year) to trigger the cash back then leaving a nominal charge left to pay on the Visa (Macquarie Hilton).

As always YMMV.

I was there that time last year, but wasn't able to swing the Hilton from work - that must have cost a bomb.

Wasn't too bad as we booked the Honors rate the day the dates were announced. It went up pretty quickly and dramatically after that. The hotel was sold out when we checked in.

About $1,700 but then the Amex offer dropped that right back.

Yeah it is nice when these come together.

Any recommendations for what room type to book at Parmelia on a 1 night stay as a Diamond to minimise cost but maximise upgrade potential.

Staying there for the first time but will be checking in after work then out to dinner and the ballet so a room upgrade isn't super important but would be nice (we are only staying here to avoid having to drive or cab home would be about the same as the base room rate).

Personally, I like the Queen Suite (as I travel alone on business to Perth), rather than the King Suite. I generally buy the Deluxe (level above basic) and I rarely miss out on an upgrade (Diamond, but I am a regular guest at the property, been coming since 2002 at least once/year, always 2/3 nights).

Oops forgot to add that about 4 years ago, the Customer Experience Manager actually put in my profile that I would prefer the Queen Suite. Since then, 100% success rate. It pays to get to know the Front Desk staff if you are a regular (plus it helps being Diamond).

Must ask for a refurbed room at theHilton Parmelia. Not sure how many unrefurbished rooms remain but they are all poor. Refurbed ones are ok.

Check the Hilton Chengdu Chenghua. I just booked the Ambassador Suite for ~$600 AUD total for five nights. It can be had for cheaper - available most of next year. I hope it sticks.

Given there are only select hotels where it applies, I doubt it. I've stayed at 7 Hiltons this past month and had the $80 back at 3 of them, as advertised, but not the others which I knew were ineligible.

The points sales are processed by Points.com which doesn't classify as Hilton spend. It won't work for this offer.

I've been waiting for a sale so good timing for me. Doesn't qualify for the Amex discount but I'm happy with the overall price. I get good treatment at that property too, stayed there multiple times and should do a trip report.

Confirmation the Visa Asia Promo is stackable with the normal double points promo (and Amex cash back).
