Really? Given that BA now codeshare with CX I'd have thought they might have started directing pax to CX lounges. Not to mention that the lounge is no longer branded as a joint QF/BA effort.

Upper deck Y, fortunately was a good flight and the staff were great. Had a great breakfast in F lounge before hand..

What else would you expect on a dim sum cart? Rack of lamb?

I haven't been, but if I had to guess, I probably wouldn't expect more than siu mai, har gow, and egg tarts. If they have more than that and if they are hand made each day, I might have to eat a hat.

Visited the lounge twice in last 10 days on way to from LHR, and found it to be crowded, noisy, with not great food - either choice or taste! The Yum Cha trolley only ventured out of the kitchen once, and only then serviced about a dozen passengers before disappearing again and not returning. Travelling in F, I certainly didn't feel anything special - and a quick walk to CX's The Wing changed that - much more pleasant experience, enjoying a Cabana and a sit down meal in the restaurant before relaxing in one of the many comfortable chairs or sofas.
Nice try Qantas, but you missed the mark.

Currently in the lounge now (no problems as a QP flying Emirates getting entry), and it does remind me of a front bar on a Friday night after work. Admittedly it was rather hard to find, as I arrived around Gate 50 and signage is rather woeful.

I get it's above Gate 15, but I did get rather lost - the elevator being out of service didn't help either. Need better directions for those coming off non-QF flights - maps show no lounge at all.

QF, any reason you couldn't implement universal power sockets in a "new lounge"? 5* hotels have them these days - having to hand over a boarding pass for an adaptor seems rather archaic in this day and age.

Other than that, it does it's job, food is better than BKK and whilst it is crowded right now, it doesn't feel that way.

ISTR reading somewhere (FT probably) that the type of power socket is dictated by HKIA. I've not seen any other style anywhere in the airport.

Fair enough - pity because they're truly a lifesaver (and all the ones I've seen have been made by Clipsal!!!)

I need to stay at more 5* hotels, because from my experience, there's still many who do not have universal power sockets, and many will also insist on a cash deposit or even a hire charge (or purchase) in order to supply you with an adapter.

I usually do (I have a massive collection), but this trip forgot to remove from my lighting gear.

Wow - cash deposits?? I've signed paperwork before (so they can charge my account if it's not returned), but never been asked to lay cash on the table - I do understand though, those things aren't cheap!

Some time ago, there was a multi-socket powerboard on sale. Eventually, it was banned as they felt it was unsafe, and that's the last I've seen of it in HKG (in a legit shop anyway).

I wouldn't usually have a travel adaptor in my carry on as they are bulky. I'd expect the QF lounge to carry something suitable for Aussie travellers. Although my gadgets are USB based in the main.

I wouldn't think being included on the airport maps would be too difficult - every other lounge was indicated rather clearly, and it was the first thing I looked at to see where they were located.

Signage that simply states "Airport Lounges" (when there are sooooo many), isn't all that helpful unless you have some idea of where they are. :mrgreen:

I like this lounge - felt really spacious even when it had a lot of people around and acoustically, it didn't feel "noisy" either. Looking forward to a return visit - and I'll definitely remember my UK adaptor.

Had a quick visit on Friday, after spending 2 hours in cx the wing f lounge was a bit of a let down (for a plat) although the decor is much better than before merging f lounge into standard lounge not a good idea.

Poor range of food, felt deserted with staff mainly standing at reception however friendly they were. Needs a lot work to bring it up to standard of Singapore lounge.

But for me the wing will remain my hkg lounge of choice. Still a good job by qf as it's better than cx j lounge.
