How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

In Jan 2015, just a few weeks old. :) Would be interesting to see if anyone else experience upgrade improvements at HSYD to confirm if it's the new GM's doing.

I am at the end of an 8 night stay at the Sydney Hilton. The new GM is certainly visible - I've seen him in Glass and regularly in the EL. Haven't spoken to him though. I'm impressed that he spoke to a number of the staff. I haven't noticed much change in the EL spread but this morning they did have hot boiled eggs for the first time for me. On upgrades I checked in at the EL and was upgraded to a Relaxation Room. I'd pointed out that I hadn't had any (meaningful) upgrade in probably a dozen stays there and, hey presto, it materialised! All up, a very good stay.

On a slightly random topic, did anybody else recently receive a new HHonors card?

This is my fourth gold card to arrive in the mail in the last 6 months... Obviously nothing to worry about, I'm just thinking of how wasteful it is..
I'm gonna have to start giving them out as business cards soon.:shock:

made Diamond last quarter last year - account fine but no card yet.

Probably update time again.

Gold requaled on 3rd Jan 2015, diamond will be made on the 26th Jan. So should be a diamond til March 2017 soon.

Doubt I'll see a card though, just like I've never gotten a deck of cards. If Hilton weren't convenient for the snow, and the fact that you can get status on spend rather than nights, I'd be with SPG in a flash...

So Hilton Niseko. 3 rooms, all upgraded to 'deluxe'. No idea what this entails, maybe higher floor. Hotel is getting worse every year and dinner offerings becoming very poor. Still worth a stay if it's your first time in Niseko as it is very convenient to slopes etc, but I'm not sure how many more times I will be back. Loyalty not really recognised in any way either, similar with status.

Conrad Tokyo- base room,4 nights.
Given exec, no bay view. Didn't ask for one, forgot.
Hotel is nice, well located and I love the place. But exec lounge special nibbles are one plate only on weekend nights. Other nights it's get your own and unlimited. You can still get the basic. Antipasto but the other dishes they give out (the tasty ones that aren't just meat, cheese or dips) are limited :(
Hotel restaurants all relatively expensive as IIRC they all have a Michelin star, and it's Tokyo. Not an issue for me, as one of the reasons for the stay was Michelin dining. Got to Ishikawa this time, and Chateau Joel in Ebisu again, as well as Collage in the hotel.
Was allowed full buffet breakfast for 2 this time as a diamond, which is a change form old policy of charging for upgrade from continental. One of the few hotels where the lounge breakfast is almost as extensive as the buffet spread. This says more about the buffet than the lounge in an Asian hotel, but that's just my opinion. I find the Westin Tokyo breakfast better.

Hilton Niseko Village. Again.
Upgrade to a deluxe room. Still not sure what it gives me.
Dinner even worse/smaller offerings at the buffets. Dinner package limited to only 3 restaurants, mainly buffets, when it used to include to others too.

Hilton Tokyo- upcoming still.

I think many of us shied away from H-SYD because of the lack of upgrades and pathetically small rooms as standard fare. I look forward to more positive reports as well especially with the demise of the IHG bogos for the IC.

To answer your question, no I haven't that I know about, but don't be too alarmed as it's just Hilton. Have a look at my avatar. It's a tribute to HH and their disarray with cards. They seem to refuse to send them out for so long then some cog engages and a whole flurry arrive simultaneously.......and if you're really lucky, one of them just may be the correct colour! ;)

Thanks for the report, staying at Hilton Cairns for first time Saturday-Tuesday. Not the best time of year to visit but couldn'y say no to $45 MEL-CNS fares!
Say hello to Anne the Exec Lounge Manager at the C.H., wonderful Scottish lady who does a great job - worth her weight in gold.

(Normally in the Lounge M to F mornings - very helpful)

I had a quick chat to the GM as I was checking out at the EL yesterday. Gave me his card and I mentioned I will be back next week and would be great if we can have a chat (feedback). Any suggestions on what to bring up? Will need to have a combo of positives and negatives.

Positives - great lounge, fantastic breakfast.
Negatives - upgrade from deluxe to exec doesn't count as a real upgrade for diamonds who get same size room with no added benefits.

We we stay at the Sydney Hilton several times a year, especially when flying overseas as not game enough to risk the M1 in the morning due to accidents.

Have had an upgrade to a relaxation suite x 1, relaxation room x 3, corner room x 1 and the rest " upgraded to an executive room" which is almost the same as any other.

Used to get a small welcome amenity, but now a small bottle of Mcguigan red wine.

Would like to see better room upgrades and a better Diamond amenity in the room.

Lounge is usually good, but sometimes the hot food is not the best. Breakfast in the lounge is good and not as crowded as Glass.

Hilton Cairns
Status: Gold
Room: Advanced Purchase Hilton King
Room received: Executive floor (9th) with lounge access with option to have breakfast in the main restaurant (name has changed to Donnini's)
Date: 23 Jan
Amenities: 2 waters, Welcome Card, Rainforest Chocolate & Bottle of Rothbury Sparkling

This was my last night from a great week in Cairns/Port Douglas. As Hilton "newbies" it was hard to keep a straight face when staff thanked us for their ongoing loyalty. Although after first impressions we will be back. Even at breakfast the manager said "I shouldn't need to explain where items are..." Ha! yeah no problems...

I've must of read the mini bar listing numerous times to check that bottle of sparkling in the fridge was for us. Lounge only had few couples but we kept to ourselves and enjoyed the experience. Even the pool was great - no pool is great without pool noodles!!

Hilton Tokyo.

First stay here, not a bad place. Prefer Conrad(s) in general but seems like a decent Hilton compared to some. I feel they vary more than Conrads, or at least have a significantly lower acceptable service minimum.

Diamond.
1 night, team USA rate.
Booked base, got Exec junior room. Very large for a Tokyo room, recently renovated I think. Liked the shower, separate from the bath. Modern looking room.

Exec lounge- they seem to have a special area for diamonds (maybe only when busy)? They use the room 3710 which must have been a suite too and has apparently the same food offerings and beverages. It is very quiet and private. It's kept very hush hush because they whispered the room number to me when I forgot it!

Liked this place, would recommend to those who need to be in the area or who don't like the Conrad for various reasons (including price, cos it can be crazy!)

Btw- anyone looking at the Conrad, there is a mistake rate out currently for their suites, around 100000 JPY a night but includes a paired dinner. Very very good rate, think the room is normally around 6000AUD/night or so.
