How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Property: Sydney Hilton
HH status: Diamond
Booked: King Deluxe
Received: Relaxation Room
Lesser of an upgrade from last week but still heaps better than the Exec room
:D

Or just spend $12,000+ during January. :p

True, but I'm not sure that's what Cynicor did

This is from the Hilton website

"Earning tier status
As a member, you can earn and maintain elite tier status based on the stays, nights, or HHonors Base Points earned in any calendar year. A "calendar year" is understood to mean 1 January through 31 December of each year. You must re-qualify for elite status each calendar year."

No apology required. I am a diamond, and have been for about 5 years. Made the qualification/requaled (as they are the same) criteria for 2015-2016 status on base points (I.e. Until March 2017) on checking out of Hilton Niseko Village.

Anyone saw this bizarre marketing strategy?

Dumbest thing ever. They do it so you need to be a HH member to view pricing.

Its then not a public rate and therefore not subject to rate parity agreements with the OTA.

As such they can offer a lower rate, or higher or whatever the heck they want.

Total dumbass move by hilton and it is no doubt hurting direct bookings.

They really are clueless in the war against booking/expedia

How's that captcha work around going for StayAngel?.. :) I really should sign up! Even though I now have no forward bookings with HH for the first time in a long time!

No problem with captcha now ;)
In fact StayAngel doesn't need any hotel user/pass to access reservation data these days.
Got support for most major hotel chains too ;)

I realise this is OT but looking at post above I am wondering how you are going with the new Captcha on the site recently. I use a password generator to protect my various login details but this is useless with HHonors and most frustrating. The site always assumes I am a robot so gives me nearly impossible words to decipher.

No better asking for an audio file as the background noise is so high, these are generally impossible as well. Got so frustrated the other day I wrote to HHonors but that was a complete waste of effort. Although I did get a reply within an hour, it was only a referral and a promise to get back to me. Nothing more so far.

I guess I will have to use the App more often but the website has better information.

I'm sure Hilton doesn't receive too many "THANK YOU FOR IMPLEMENTING CAPTCHA I LOVE HILTON NOW!" type emails.

They must know it sucks but if it's not hurting reservations why does it matter? Hilton implemented it after a large number of accounts were compromised, which makes you wonder if passwords are encrypted or not in their databases... (hint: you can tell if a site has your password in 'plain text' if they are able to tell you your pass via the forgot passwd feature. A site which encrypts your password will have something like: answer 3 questions to reset the pass, or click this link to reset via email.)

Slightly off topic - StayAngel moved away from storing passwords on loyalty programs for this reason... massive liability if something were to happen. So now we integrate directly into the member account seamlessly and hotel passwords are no more. Happy to answer any other Q's in another thread or via PM to stay on topic here.

Not looking good so far from Parmelia Hilton Perth.
Just checked in and no upgrades available tonight but might be available for the next three nights of my stay.
I've been allocated the room category booked 6th floor (king deluxe) which is fair enough. No water in room, no welcome Amenity or card. TV doesn't have my name on it. I suspect this room is an afterthought.
Total failure so far for a repeat guest and BIB Diamond. A bit disappointed to be honest, hopefully it improves as I'm here until Monday

That's disappointing as I got two Welcome Cards from the GM over my 5 night stay. See Jocelyn at the front desk (guest relations manager) when she is on shift - short, attractive blonde with 15 yr badge. I thought she was on from 3pm to 11pm today.

Also say hi to Deirdre (dark hair) and Jono (gay Asian) at breakfast - they'll look after you. I told them all to look after you. Was sure Jocelyn had put a message into your booking

I'll keep a look out for her tomorrow. I was told that I would most likely be moved tomorrow and to leave my things packed so we'll see what happens. I have an early start and late finish so if the promised move doesn't eventuate it will likely be too late to do anything.
C'est la vie !

Hotel: Hilton Surfers Paradise:
2 Nights (29th-31st Jan)
Room Booked: King Executive
Room Received: Relaxation Suite.

Executive Lounge: Disappointing outside of main service times, but good options for evening Drinks/canapes. GREAT views.
Buffet at Salt: Good options, much like other Hilton Buffets.

Had to call down for comp gold water(6 hours after check in), no GM card or welcome amenity ( as suggested in room rate)
Late check out for 3pm granted.
The room itself is fine, it is comfortable but lacks the Hilton finish ( ripped towels, stained carpets) size is more like a standard exec room at HSW with a TINY couch.

The Staff have all been friendly and helpful so far, and the hotel is definitely comfortable and nice... Just lacking the special Hilton something.

True to their word when I arrived back this evening just after 6pm I had been moved to a King Suite.
My luggage was already in the new room.
I have to say I like the new furnishings, hopefully they will eventually re-place the wallpaper and carpet to match

OT: I didn't plan this trip too well having spent the last few weeks in NZ. It's evil waking up at 0300 due to the WA jet lag factor :D
