How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

I hope Fiji drys out a bit for you  (not to mention for the poor Fijians).

PS, you can get diamond points and upgrades etc for up to 2 rooms in a single booking. Only downside is that you still only get counted as one stay.
Thanks Lindsay.

We did think long and hard and also made a few phone calls before deciding to go ahead.

The real reason for the split Hilton booking is so we can get the HPC discount for both rooms. One as entitled and one using a member for a stay card.

Whilst it's nice to be thanked, that wasn't my quote.

It makes sense to have separate stay credits so that you can both re-qualify. Reminds me that I need to look at my HH account to see if they have downgraded me to Silver, so I can use my DJ Gold upgrade ;)

Oops.

Thanks swanning_it.

This Friday & Saturday nights we have two rooms booked at HSW prior to leaving for Fiji.

One in SWMBO's name (HH Gold) and one in my name (HH Diamond). It was the best way to get 2 appropriate rooms incl HPC discount for 3 adults and 3 kids.

SWMBO has already been upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite city view and I have no upgrade :!: :(
I now have a King Yarra Suite.

My experience with HSW is that I don't get a suite all that much - last time was the first time I did!

Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre 6-8 April
HH Diamond
Booked: Queen Revolution Room GBP79/night
Received: Queen Revolution Room pre-selected River View, welcome drink for 2 delivered to room, letter from GM, free full hot breakfast (as MyWay amenity), 2 bottles of sparling and 2 bottles still water delivered daily.

I really wish I hadn't booked here - the staff were lovely. I don't think they had many Diamond members come through here, so they were treating me like royalty. But the hard product was still not great - none of the usual US HGI treats, like the bed with adjustable firmness, and the room was so tiny we couldn't have two suitcases on the floor without blocking access to the room. It would have been GBP for the Hilton Glasgow, 1km closer to town, and with a much nicer product. HGIs in the US were wonderful - here in the UK I'm not so sure.

There are ways at the HSW for a Gold/Diamond to get a suite quite easily - costs a sheckle more though.

My only stay at HSW was February. Booked cheapest room for 3 nights as Diamond, upgraded to a suite. Amazing.

Recent stay at Conrad Brussels. Upgraded to Executive King.

Stay at Hilton Antwerp. Also upgraded to Executive King, and that stay was on points.

Hilton Waikiki, upgraded to Ocean View king, vice mountain view room.

Hilton Cairns 4 nights. HH Gold
Booked: cheapest king room with breakfast (cheaper with breakfast than without)
Received: King water view room non-executive floor upgrade as room was being assigned.
Was offered to take free breakfast in buffet area in restaurant as a HH Gold. I then pointed out we also had it included in room rate. Was told then to still have breakfast in restaurant.
Was not able to use lounge. Did ask but was told "no". No daily news paper. But did get free internet which didn't work well in room anyway. Lobby has free internet.
Had to ask for water initially, then got 2 bottles per day.
As we didn't get lounge access we didn't have dinner on-site.
Was an average stay, nothing special.

What are the bathroom amenities like at HGI's? Are they the same as the Hilton's?

I usually carry a copy of the T&C with me in case something like that happens...

To be fair, the new HH deal doesn't guarantee Exec lounge access, just a room upgrade, and it sounds like they did provide that by way of going from the cheapest room available to a river view room.

Actually, the old deal didn't guarantee Exec access either, but if there was an exec room available we golds were supposed to get it, now the devil is in the detail and I was quite apprehensive when I saw the HH changes pushed out.

I would have thought that a reasonable compromise would be to allow exec lounge access even if you don't get an exec room ... but then, there would be no reason to aim for Diamond I suppose as this is currently a diamond benefit :)

I can't remember what they had at the US HGIs I stayed at - at this one, they were products from Neutrogena, not the Peter Roth stuff they have at Hiltons now.

I found the Internet from the Executive Floor to be abominable at Cairns Hilton - devices wouldn't keep a stable connection. I ended up using 3G HotSpot off my phone.

I am fairly new to Hilton as I usually stick with Starwood properties...

What should you have received here ?

Gold doesn't really get you much except MAYBE and upgrade and MAYBE lounge access...!

HH Gold (Diamond Pending through Virgin) - I mentioned this on check-in and showed confirmation, but they were not interested
Hilton Surfers Paradise
Booked Deluxe King Room
Received Deluxe King Room

I was told when checking in that "no upgrades were available" but they placed me in a "very nice Deluxe room" to me I think it was an accessible room, because of the roll in shower and grab rail in the shower and bath.. Thoughts ?

I also received the email after booking, for the E-Standby upgrades, which I agreed to and they still didn't upgrade me, even though according to website room were available.

So as a gold member & willing to pay for an upgrade, I was denied.

I had to ask several times to get a later check-out, 12pm being standard I was only offered 1pm... Until I pushed and then it was 4pm

However, I did receive 4 x free beers in the room as a welcome, of which I drank 2......

The hotel is lovely, but the staff/setup bring it down a little. Maybe I was expecting too much from a Hilton, after all it's not a St Regis....

I have emailed HHonors to see what they say, about the lack of upgrade etc

The bathroom - Is this an accessible room ?

Is there a bath? Perhaps behind us in the photo.

I've not been to this property, but I'd say you are right .. .no shower frame/door.

Hmmmm.

I usually go into these situations assuming that folks who don't even know me surely won't go out of their way to annoy ... But if you looked up the property, and the web showed availability of say executive rooms on the day in question .. well, that would make me grumble.

An extra hour or 2 for free is about all I ever usually get. I'm okay with it. I know they also earn revenue from late checkouts at many Hiltons so I can't expect everything for free.

I've found service levels in QLD to be pretty good, as a general rule of thumb ... says nothing of course about an individual property. Want some truly appalling service? Come to WA (ha! .. though not talking of the Hilton Parmelia which has good service). Hilton SP is a cat6 isn't it? I'd expect top shelf conditions and service there and would be disappointed if it didn't arrive.

I've always had Hhonors Sydney respond to my emails within 24 hours ... hope you get a resolution. I'd have been on the phone to them, there is an Aussie number on the back of your Gold card ... sitting in front of my PC with availability showing I'd have called them up for an opinion.
