How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

My reading is that you would only need 17,500 points. What part of that was a blocking issue for the good folk at HH?
Actually I was just over 2000 points shy of gold but they told me the points for the other 2 rooms were bonus points so didn't count for status. But we paid for an executive room and just that alone requalified silver. Pointed out that Silvers don't get that many bonus points. but it took 8 emails to get that sorted.

Righto. Education is very much a two-way process, I have found!

2 nights, Diamond
$255 Govt
Booked Standard Dbl Room
Received Executive Spa Dbl Room

Wine voucher and chocolates in room. Breakfast included and server makes a point of mentioning there is no coffee tax. Lounge spread was great and staff were fantastic, would barely be finished the drink before they came and offered another. Messaged the hotel to ask about the pool bar and they said it was temporarily closed for maintenence, however a staff member there said it was closed for good which would be a shame. The QR code ordering at the pool wasn’t too bad, no tray charge and probably 10-15 min turnaround.

Minor issue with my friend’s digital key not working and being denied access to the room mid stay. Normally a phone call or message to the hotel directly on the app would fix this as I wasn’t with him at the time but the manager spoke to me on the phone and said we would lose all Diamond benefits for the room plus no points/stay recognition unless I came and presented ID to the front desk to confirm I was actually there. I understand this may be an ongoing issue but I feel like it could’ve been handled better imo as he was stuck at reception for around 20 mins while they tried to confirm he was a legitimate guest. Either way I obliged and the manager was very apologetic when I turned up at reception.

Overall an enjoyable stay.

The pool bar has been closed for ages. My first was about 10 years ago I’m pretty sure it wasn’t open then either.

Did you list your friends as a second guest on the reservation? That would allow him to checkin and access room on your behalf, but some hotels still need you to swing by front desk per protocol especially if using corporate or govt rates.

Wasn't expecting much but this was a nice room. Haven't stayed in a year or so, can't believe they still don't have streaming to the TV.

Basic non-upgrade to the Exec Floor. Lounge officially only serves snacks / drinks from 6-8pm. Breakfast only downstairs in the restaurant but no hassle about continental only, which was refreshing. Lounge was packed in the evening but the staff was lovely and tried to find seats for everyone.

Points booking so wasn't expecting much.

I can see references to "As a diamond member we had access to the executive lounge" so I assume it applies to everyone, but I guess I'm asking specifically if this applies to say a family of two adults and two kids, or is that pushing the friendship?
So as follow-up, yes myself and the family were allowed to all use the executive lounge. But we ended up not using it, as the Hilton Surfers Paradise gave us all complimentary Buffet breakfast for the duration of our stay, and didn't charge for hotel parking either. This was a nice win!

As a Gold, full breakfast buffet can be upgraded for $10 per pax. The selection of food was great and the staff was friendly. It was a good experience with the lounge over looking the reef wheel in the evening,

The front desk team members were friendly and attentive to my issues.

Received complimentary fruits in the room and a welcome card.

Overall an enjoyable stay.

Perhaps this should have been posted in the travel mistakes thread. The points were relatively cheap and booked for the location as we are seeing some shows.

Had to do some furniture rearranging just to open two carry on bags.
