How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Asia is where you really get bang for buck with Accor WP. While I have had good experiences in Australia and AKL, from my experience and research on FT, Asia seems to be the sweet spot. Upgrades, gifts, complimentary laundry, fruit platters, cheese platters, chocolates, and bottled water can be had in most properties.

With the current promo you can obtain gold in 3 stays of 2 nights or more. Accor are working hard at obtaining and retaining market share.

We've got something like 18 nights in 6 properties in Vietnam and Cambodia next month. Stay tuned. I may yet do a TR.

I hear you with that, but the problem is, all chains step it up in Asia! Doesn't really matter what brand you're with, Asian properties have to be good or they sink.

I'd appreciate any link to the gold promo. I was plat with Accor for a year via the Europcar SM, via the VA SM, but I struggled so much to see any value in Accor, that I didn't even bother to stay one night. I came back into this thread to see if they had changed at all and it seems they have upped their offering........but still not to a point I'd say is working hard at obtaining/retaining market share. I'd love to be proved wrong however, as Accor properties are positioned (locality wise) the best of all to suit my needs.

I'm signed up to others but haven't been able to untangle myself from Accor. I'm happy for the moment but always scanning the environment!

Hopefully this link fits your current or future spending patterns. Special offer

OK, thanks......I can earn 11500 points by booking before the end of tonight! Talk about being thrown in the deep end. OK, booking the stays is OK (have to cancel a few Hilton bookings :() but can anyone quickly tell me advantages/disadvantages of buying Accor Plus before booking?

Accor Plus membership gives you 25% off meals when dining alone, 50% off meals when dining with 1 other person. 25% off for 3 or more . It goes on and ooooon.

Members get a discount of 10% plus a free night thrown in.

I explained all of this to my future mother in law verbatim before she canceled her second year of membership.

If you're in the right industry you can probably claim the Accor Plus membership as a tax thing.

So it doesn't matter as far as status is concerned......Accor or Accor plus, same same?

(I got a chuckle about the tax deduction...most of my tax is paid in PNG.....once you give the PNG Gov't money, there ain't a hope in hell you'll see any back again! The only tax deduction in PNG is when a politician helps themselves to the money pot!)

You'll pay the sign up fee which I think is around $300 odd. But I'm not sure you'll get the other benefits stated here http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/leclub/program/cards-status-benefits.shtml

Compared to the Accor Plus program here: https://www.accorplus.com/en/other/about/terms-and-conditions

Insert chortle. I was born in PNG. The old boy is still up there. I know exactly what you're experiencing. That aside stay safe.

Came home tonight to find my surprise Platinum card with an expiry of Sep 2017! Even longer than my HH Diamond re qualification expiry. :p Someone is trying really hard to move me away from Hilton. Got to say, I was very pleasantly surprised with the service at Pullman Hyde Park. They really took customer service seriously, received a call from the GM before my stay and they responded to the survey I filled out with further requests for clarification to assist them with their service improvements which I happily obliged.

Enough OT from me. I did a brief search and the Accor rates were nowhere even near Hilton. I'd need that 50% off Accor promo to get within cooee of the Hilton rate I can get most days. I'll stay put I guess.

Thanks for the help!

If the cheaper meals isn't so appealing I'd go for 'gold' aided by the promo above. I usually prefer a room upgrade.

General comments: The location and staff are excellent. The pool and the executive lounge are great after walking around all day. This property has a solid reputation for looking after high tier members. In future I will choose the Pullman over the Sofitel. The notable difference between the Sofitel and Pullman was that top shelf alcohol was served in the Sofitel exec lounge and basic spirits in the Pullman lounge. As noted by ksthommo above the health breakfast option above was novel!

First time back to Pullman on the Park as an "Elite" and was very interested to find out what's changed from my old favourite when it was a Hilton. Firstly upgraded to the suite from standard room booked. A yummy welcome platter of sweets, nice touch! Room and decor remained unchanged from HoTP days. They spruced the EL up a bit but the spread were exactly the same as how I remembered it but they've provided Evian and some other French sparkling water which were a huge improvement. Breakfast downstairs unchanged as well, right down to the chef at the egg station. Overall a very pleasant stay. Will I be back? You betcha, if the rates are as competitive as the 2 Hiltons.

Can i ask whether or not your guests/companions had to pay for access to the club lounge as the last time i was there a month ago i'm sure i read somewhere in the hotel that friends or guests were welcome into the club lounge with a fee of something like $30 for breakfasts and $40 for canapes and drinks or was it courtesy of your Platinum status ?
