How long for complimentary hotel status to come through

That was how Velocity "knew" my request was "actioned" on the first call as it was now missing from my account.

Isn't this the sort of issue where one of the Virgin reps here could come on and say"This is what's happening"? It clearly is an important issue to many and seems to be a matter of fact.

I am now clear about one thing I was ensure about though....the membership of HH.

Diamond - 6 months
Gold - 12 months

Given I won't get to Diamond, I'm happier with the 12 months of Gold, then I would have been with 6 months of Platinum......especially since Hilton web site and other issues have just stopped three of the four needed stays that I could have got!

Mine disappeared from my velocity account a while ago but I'm still not showing as upgrade on the PC website.

simongr posting incorrectly in another thread said:
OK - you guys do know from reading my Trip Reports that I have OCD don't you

So a call back to Virgin today with [not the same as insert name here] and was advised that after a 48 hour turnaround it should be effective after 10 business days - which is today. SO "you will have nothing to worry about for your booking next week" and the welcome pack for HHonors should be 21 business days.

I should get an email tonight/tomorrow - if I don't get the email or status update on the HHonors website it will be back on the phone...

I was told by [not the same as insert name here] that [insert name here] had escalated to someone - so at last there was a note and a record of the benefit.

[not the same as insert name here] was certainly clearer on the process - perhaps reflecting some update on Virgin's side to document the process for their people.

Updates tomorrow or perhaps I am not sure yet...

I posted that in another thread yesterday rather than in here. Sadly when I check HHonors this morning - so sign of a change in status...

I can understand that the hotel and car status matches may rely on the other party actioning the request from Velocity.

It is frustrating, though, as I accidentally selected that I wasn't a member of HHonors and immediately emailed and called with my current number. Like others, I have made a number of bookings with Hilton starting next week in order to requalify, and am concerned the status won't be updated by my first stay. If it wasn't for the status from HHonors I wouldn't have booked to stay at Hilton hotels.

I got my IHG phone call confirming that my account has now been upgraded to Elite Platinum. I logged into my account and double checked, I can confirm I am elite platinum now. Now i have to book some room, looking at Candlewood suites, anyone have any experience with this particular hotel chain?

Excellent, so there's hope yet ... I start a 6 day state at a HI property in the US in about 16 hours, I wonder what the chances are of mine coming through before then?

Ok a further update. I called Hhonors again as I am still showing as Blue. After a little bit of hold music and a couple of bites at digging deeper [Not Ishmael] advised the following information about what they know of the program:

- A lady from Velocity [perhaps a Velocity member] had called HHonors on 13 Sep and hadn't been happy with the outcome as they couldn't help and asked for a manager - no other details available (although I sensed some rolled eyes when [Not Ishamael] told that to me.
- I should call back tomorrow as [insert name beginning with R] would be working tomorrow and he might have a better handle on it.

I will call HHonors tomorrow and see what is going on and maybe speak to [insert name beginning with R]...

Next stay at a Hilton is on Thursday... Thankfully this Hilton is an approved Hilton so my staying there wont raise eyebrows unlike my other stays...

Cool. Looks like I applied about a week after you. My first stay is a week from now, so fingers crossed my status comes through by then...

You guys going for Platinum Elite do realise what it means? The chances of upgrades is not high (I would be running at about 1 in 10) and upgrades are often, higher floor, better view, further from a noise source such as lifts). At some hotels eg Holiday Inn Express, the rooms are all identical. The major benefit is a higher points earn which can be used towards free stays . Worth checking the Priority Club threads on here and FT if you haven't already.

This is getting farcical now!

Just called both Hilton and Velocity again - cough elbow - none of them seem to know one from the other. Firstly Hilton say that this program can't be manually added - it has to be done by Velocity. Called Velocity and they could hardly hear me but eventually they sort of understood so they called Hilton (I'll get back to you on that) and tried to sort it for me - eventually because of the security questions they put me through to Hilton directly - Hilton were having trouble finding me in their system mainly due to the fact that they had put me through to Priority Club...:confused::-|

Interesting to watch what's happening simongr. I applied for Hilton (existing HHonors member) too and it has 'disappeared' from my Velocity portal, but HHonors is still showing me as a blue member. I'll try calling them too when I can.

Further update - just advised that the issue seems to be that by putting in an existing member number it is stuffed. They are probably now going to void that application, suggest I try again signing up as a new member then somehow Hilton will try and merge my memberships...

What a cluster****...

My suggestion to anyone who has applied for the Hilton status to call Virgin and work out what the **** is going on.

Decidedly quiet on the part of the Velocity rep I notice...

hmmm, I think it's all Hilton matches. I didn't input my HHonors number by mistake, and despite several emails and phone calls nothing has occurred. I was told they "sent my details to Hilton" and yet my account remains Blue.

I have PM'd the Velocity Rep on the board and flagged this thread. I separately be sending a complaint through their complaints process. I have called 5 times now and not had the same answer twice.

I have just logged onto velocity and now under "my benefits" nothing is listed except the flight upgrades and lounge access. Is this normal or have they removed the other benefits? I am platinum and have already selected the hotel and car partners but thought they should still be listed there. :?:

Its normal once you have activated the offer, Hilton are really dragging their heals, and its costing them my business!
