How long for complimentary hotel status to come through

It isn't costing Hilton my current business as that was booked on the assumption that the status would come through...

No Hilton love for me either - my account is still showing blue (just like I feel).

Gave a quick call to Virgin to see if an action/follow up is required and was told that I only need to show my velocity card to get benefits from membership partners - couldn't be bothered disputing this claim so left it at that.

It's a very generous/appealing offer so I can see why Virgin was eager to announce it - but maybe it should have been listed as "coming soon" and more work gone into coordinating with Hilton the correct system to process applications.

Decidedly quiet on the part of the Velocity rep I notice...
That is a little disappointing but perhaps there are too many fires to put out with all the recent enhancements.

Still a HH Blue and 18 days until next stay. I don't care about room upgrades but would love Executive lounge access in Bangkok and Hua Hin.

Same here - exec lounge access is the key (plus status bonus of course).

My iration is really around the fact that the required four stays were guaranteed but now may not count due to timing out of my control.

Its normal once you have activated the offer, Hilton are really dragging their heals, and its costing them my business!

It's cost them my business.....not costing! I'm finding the heal dragging to be potentially beneficial, as I intend asking Velocity to scrap my HH upgrade and go for the alternative.

Do they give any indication of how long it should take? I'd accept 2 weeks, which seems to be what it took for IHG, but looks to be taking longer for Hilton. I went with IHG (haven't got the status yet, hopefully in the next few days) since I've got a few stays with them booked and I haven't stayed at a Hilton for a long time. Hilton looks like the better program, but I wouldn't use it.

I asked @virgin... on twitter and this was my reply...

@munitalP It takes about a month, just bare with us as we're experiencing slight delays due to high demand

So there is the official answer.I would like to see my Diamond membership through before 14th of next month as I have a 7 night stay in Vegas, but, hopefully my Gold will do it's tricks if the Diamond does not show up.

I'm wondering whether to just go for my 4 stays in early October hoping these will qualify me for 12 months of HH Diamond or if I should apply for the fast track to gold and keep the Diamond for later.
I haven't applied for the complimentary hotel status yet.
Any suggestions?

I actually don't buy that - I have been told the official answer is 10 business days - plus 48 hours from request - I am at 17 business days now...

That sounds to me like "Tell them it takes long enough for us to get it sorted"...

I hadn't thought about that - might be a good idea... better than the Diamond thing as I have 4 stays now booked - bugger just realised that I could have had gold for my Jeddah trip based on the four stays before then :(

I find your approach unreasonable given all the other partners have acted, it's not Virgin that has the issue here clearly, and normal T&Cs don't really cover one off deluge of status match conditions.

I think you misunderstood markis10 - I am not saying that the problem lies specifically with Virgin - it could easily be Hilton HHonors - I just don't believe that the timing is really "it just takes a month" given other partners have acted quickly and I was told by HHonors that once they have the info from Virgin it is an automatic upgrade (though I have also had multiple other stories from HHonors including that this promo ends on 28 Feb 2012).

If it was always going to take a month then that would have been useful info to know before I requested it as it would have possibly influenced my hotel choices coming up and the timing of the request.

My Velocity portal is now showing "You opted-in to membership with Hilton HHonors™ on 31 Aug 2011. "
The HHonors page still shows HHonors Blue however. At least something has changed!

Perhaps I did misunderstand, its known to happen! I have two Hilton matches pending, one for Gold no HH member and then mine for diamond pre existing member, neither are activated, and the Gold one was done on the day it was announced.

Same here - still blue as well - although I did get credited 2500 points yesterday due to these problems ;)

I called Velocity Rewards and they acknowledged the problem and said they're working on it. Not much more I can ask for a freebie I guess.

Mine came through some time in the past week or so.

I actually hit HH Gold on my own while waiting, so they seem to have bumped me to Diamond. Noice.

I assume you were credited Velocity Points?? I might have to play the annoyed card also then ;)

I keep sending Hilton emails and the response is always, thanks for your email, pelase supply us your postal address so we can help you, ummm, check the email you replied to Hilton... 3 times in a row... They just have a generic response to it...

They were Hilton points - I think the customer service sensed I was a bit unhappy with the whole thing.

Everyone,
We have had an overwhelming response to our Hilton Honours opt-in, with the large amount of requests resulting in a processing backlog.
Obviously this is not ideal, and we are working with our partner to best work through this backlog.

Further delays have been seen due to a high percentage of members not indicating they are existing Hilton Honours members and not providing their Hilton Honours membership number which has caused difficulties in matching the member.

The Hilton has a standard SLA of 6-8 weeks for receipt of welcome pack and membership card, and we've been assured that this is still valid.

Apologies for any inconvenience that these delays may have caused any of you planning trips.
