How long for complimentary hotel status to come through

I think I may have also misunderstood what was posted in the other thread.

If I accept Hilton Diamond does this mean that I do not get any Hilton points for the stay while I am complimentary Hilton Diamond?

I thought that only Airline miles would credit to Velocity but if the whole stay credits to Velocity for a measly 1,000 Velocity points instead of HH points + airline miles then the complimentary offer is useless to me.

I can put in a request for Executive lounge access for ~$30 and earning HH points and airline miles more than makes up for this difference.

This deal makes no sense to me and I do not see it as a benefit.

Am I missing something?

I got the same email, despite the fact I was upgraded the other day.

Being a newfound recipient of HH weath, I've attempt further to book hotels. All I can really say is.........I won't miss HH once my comped status runs out. They definitely don't deserve my business and I'm really wondering why anyone bothers with them.

I don't mind Hilton as they have some reasonably priced hotels in SE Asia and the USA.

I like the fact that I can receive HH points and airline miles for each stay.

- If I get 1,000 QF points then this is worth ~$25 to me
- If I get 1,000 VA miles then this is worth ~$20 to me
- If I get 1,00 BD miles then this is worth ~$35 to me

So in actual fact make the hotel stay a lot cheaper than the rate paid and that is not including the HH points.

If I sacrifice both HH points and airline miles for 1,000 Velocity points then this is not good

- If I get 1,000 VA points then this is worth ~$5 to me*

I cannot see any benefit in HH Diamond other than executive floor and lounge access which costs ~$30 anyway. I really do not care about room upgrades as I get lost in a suite anyway.

Not good at all.

* I have not been able to find any redemptions that suit me that are worth more than this amount....

I applied for the HH Diamond status on 21 Sep 11, and my HH status changed today. I guess HH and VA is definitely lifting their game now.

It's on your most recent membership card - if you have one.

Other than that, you need to call and ask.

Most days I was just looking at the first screen and it would simply say 'Welcome back John' - HHonors Blue.

Today I actually signed in to the account and it was showing HH Diamond. :shock:

If everything works as explained by serfty and oz_mark then all should be OK and I should have HH Diamond for 12 months.

I have a stay coming up in the next few weeks and am very disappointed that Virgin is now quoting 6-8 weeks to process the upgrade. Calling the Platinum support centre has not made any difference with the operators failing to call me back with an update on each occasion that they have promised to. Very frustrating.

Mine also came through pretty quickly, around a week after requesting the upgrade - I was only aware after I logged on when I was making a booking, no other emails advising it.
Don't know if it made a difference that I was already a HH member and had some status previously but lost it recently.......

My upgrade came through this morning

Applied on Sep 29 so all up just over 2 weeks from time of application. Thanks Virgin!

... I was told by HHonors that once they have the info from Virgin it is an automatic upgrade (though I have also had multiple other stories from HHonors including that this promo ends on 28 Feb 2012) ...

My situation is that I won't maintain Hilton diamond for 2012 (on nights, stays or points earned). However, I already have enough stays (more than 18) to qualify for gold for next year, so no more diamond after 31st March. However, maybe I can get complimentary diamond through the Velocity promotion (I'll easily get the 4 stays within 6 months for diamond for another 12 months).

I've status matched to platinum with Velocity but I haven't tried to activated the Hilton offer on the Velocity web-site yet. I'm thinking about leaving that as late as possible (ie, after 31 December, the end of the HHonors earning year) so as to maximise my diamond status period. As long as the offer isn't pulled prior to that.

I'm in a similar boat, but as Diamond status does not expire until 31st March, I intend to wait until after then to activate it.

Was status matched VFF WP 7 Sept 2011. Have had no response from HH nor Europcar nor Secure Sentential. It has been 6 weeks since opting-in to these VFF partner programs. Have emailed VFF and no reply there either. Anyone else getting anything?
