How long for complimentary hotel status to come through

Status

I just rang up Hilton Honors in the US and was advised that my complimentary Diamond status ends on 31 Mar 2013 (ie. more than a year’s time)!!!:D:cool:

I had hoped that it may be based on the normal HHonors status cycle (i.e., you keep the diamond/gold status for the currrent year and also for the following year, with it ending on 31st March of the year after that). That seems to confirm it. Good news.

Has anyone else checked the expiration of their status and found it to be 31 Mar 2013? I was planning to wait until just before my HH Gold expires 31 Mar 2012 before submitting for Diamond if it would only be for 6 months, but if everyone is getting status until 31 Mar 2013, I will apply for Diamond now before HH possibly discovers that people are getting more than the offered 6 months.

I called and confirmed my status expires on 31 Mar 2013 too.

30 plus days and still waiting. Next week is booking crunch time for Hhonors. Will be Marriott otherwise for Dec/Jan trips.

I may have missed it in the thread, but those who already have HHonors accounts, did you provide your HHonors number at time of requesting the upgrade? I swear I clicked the 'I Have an HHonors account' on the Velocity site, but it has not asked me anywhere for my HHonors number.

I rang Velocity who said 'oh we don't know i've not spoken to anyone who has requested it' followed by 'we have had such an overwhelming response to this that requests are taking 6-8 weeks'. Contradiction much?

They put me through to HHonors who then said 'oh DJ need to help you' so I called back DJ who said 'oh HHonors will sort it out for you'

They're passing the buck. I know it's only been a week so i'm not expecting a status match this very second, but i'd like to know that the right details have been provided to the right people so I don't end up with a new account with zero points (I have a large stash of HHonors points already that I don't really want to go missing, and I fear a 'merge' may well screw things up somehow).

I definitely provided my number. It was though through intervention that my status got upgraded.

Sorry guys just to get more clarity if i apply for the match now, would take 3-8 weeks (from the general feedback) for the status to come through, after which my expiry would be march 2013? without completing the 4 stays /12 nights as HH dia? or only last 6 months from when the match comes through until I complete the 4/12 and then it would be till march 2013

btw. no current membership

Sounds about right.

OK time to drop a PM to someone methinks :) Thanks Simon

When you said "it's only been a week", what's only been a week?

If you only applied a week ago, I'd suggest it's way too soon to be sending off PMs (assuming you mean to PM VA). VA is a valuable benefit to the AFF and AFF members, so I don't think it wise to overload him with PMS seeking possibly extraordinary assistance. If that happens too much, we may lose VA as a member!

If the comment about it's only been a week means something different, than my assessment of the situation may well change ;).

VFF Platinum desk told me it was 20 business days from op-in date for a "Welcome" email from HH to arrive, then another 20 - 30 business days for the physical "Welcome Kit" to arrive. From op-in date to "Welcome Kit" arrival could be 50 business days or 2 1/2 months.

For me it has now been close to 40 business days from op-in date and nothing (no emails or kit) has arrived from HH. VFF are checking with HH. I expect what will happen is my "Welcome Kit" will arrive sometime in the next month. Sorry HH but not a good way to start a new top tier relationship.

I accepted the HH offer on 27th Aug and since that date I have not received an email or welcome pack. This is a total of zero communication.

If HH were serious about this offer they would have already drafted a welcome email. After acceptance by the Velocity member, enter the email address and press enter. How hard is that ?

If it takes 2 months to send an email then HH are not very good at communicating with prospective status members. I can appreciate the welcome pack taking a little longer, but not this long.

I understand previous poster's efforts to contact VA and HH but they should not have to do so. We are the customer, they should be all over us pleading for our business in a very competitive market.

HH have convinced me of one thing, and that is they do not want my business. It is highly unlikely that I will set foot in a Hilton property again.

Hrm. I'm HH Gold currently. I can't seem to figure out when it expires.

Not sure if I should wait for expiry before I take up this offer? Or if I should just do it now and hope to get the longer expiry date (2013).

As mentioned, I meant to make sure my request was submitted with my HHonors number, not speed up the process.

I don't want special treatment nor to rush it, but i'd like to ensure that the request was sent with my current number rather than risk HHonors trying to merge accounts and fudge something up!

I realise things are a little all over the place with the HH status match offer but I'm wondering, if I actually do get a 6 month expiry (unless fulfilling the 4 stays requirement), at what point does the 6 month period commence? When I register? When I get the welcome e-mail? When I get the physical welcome pack? Or at some point in-between all that.

I'm going to register for it, but want to time it right. I have a 1 night stay in ADL in November, and while it would count towards the 4 stays, I will hardly be in the hotel so not worried about that (and maybe too late now anyway). I have a 5 night stay in SIN in January where I absolutely do want it, but then may have a stay or two lined up around May next year, so the 6 month thing means timing is everything. I may even have to 'manufacture' a stay or two.

Guess I just need to follow this thread closely to see the trend, and maybe registering 6 weeks or so out from my January stay dates should be sufficient (with a bit of hurry-up if necessary should the process be dragging dangerously close to my stay dates).

HHonors actually have a well established process for merging accounts. It's one of the few prorgrams that have website links to apply for it.

I can't actually say that I've ever received a welcome email. All that happened was blue changed to diamond. A welcome pack would be nice too but I'm afraid that may be too much to ask for........I still only have the cardboard temporary HH card you get with the application form and that's been months and months now! I'm now on 44 business days since opt-in, so we'll see how good the 50 is (I'm not holding my breath)!

Fair enough, I don't like your chances of that though........ever tried to catch a rainbow ;)

What application form and temporary HH card? Have I missed something?

I applied for HH membership during a Hilton stay. The application has a blue temporary cardboard card that the H staff pops out, writes you new HH number on and give it to you. This was all pre-status match promo. I can't exactly remember whaen but at a guess I'd say about July. I've never been sent a real card since!
