HSBC Platinum 60,000 $199 fee

Just about to tick over my 12 months and see the exclusion period is now 18 months - d'oh!

Embarrassing post...

My wife signed up in August 2017, and only just told me she never received the 60k. I told her to ring HSBC, but was told she only spent $2,700 and required $3,000. I honestly had thought it was $2,500 and so had she. So she asked CS if she could spend the remaining $300 to get the 60k points but they said no, since the "spend within 2 months" was back in October 2017....

Anyone reckon we can somehow get the points, or have we well and truly stuffed up on this one?

Not sure about that, but, I’d be seeking clarification in writing, as to whether you now need to wait the exclusion period out before applying again.

Oh. That's harsh. But given how HSBC stuffed up and issued so many free points for this card I can see how they would want to enforce the terms of the agreement as they now stand. Best I think you could hope for is a waving of the current 18 month exclusion period.

Thanks for posting. It does remind us all how important it is to be extremely organised in chasing points. I know, for example, the exact date that I can reapply for this card.

Yeh I couldn't believe it! Such a waste of 60k points, of the credit card yearly fee, the credit score... just hopeless!

Interesting that the providers seem to be able to pickup PayPal via Post Bill Pay. I was going to pay rates with this for the $3000 sign up, but I won't risk it.

Has DEFT worked ok for others on this? It's not government... but I had a problem with it on another Citi issued card

Like several other forum members have reported over the last few pages going back a year or so, my application is looking as though it'll be a long, drawn out saga. I applied on 3/1/18, and I can see that a credit check was done on the same day. I received a 'phone call on 8/1, requesting that I e-mail them a copy of my drivers licence, recent pay slip and recent bank statement (showing salary deposits). Duly sent. An e-mail requesting same arrived around the same time, and a letter requesting same was waiting for me when I got home.

I'd been checking the application status online periodically, but it hadn't changed, so I called them on 23/1. The CSR apologised and said that he'd refer it to the Applications Team. The status online changed yesterday (26/1) to "Contact Required." Hurry up and wait some more, I guess.

Hi. Has anyone received the bonus points from the December "Points Booster" promo? Do they normally post to the HSBC account first or directly to QFF ? Cheers

Non received here. You don’t even get confirmation that you are registered for the promotion.

So, after doing my homework, I decided to apply for this credit card yesterday. Turns out that I am ineligible to apply because my employer is not based in Australia and therefore I do not have payslips with an ABN on them. I have to admit that my response was along the lines of "WTAF, you have GOT to be kidding?!"... does this strike anyone else as completely ludicrous? HSBC didn't even get to the point of considering my assets, credit rating, ability to service the debt etc.

Am I going to run into this problem with all the other award cards?

Hi. Just looked again at HSBC account, and the bonus points look as though they have gone through there - so should sweep through to QFF next statement. I do recall getting an SMS once I had registered though.

I see this offer is still on going.

My 18 months exclusion is up in 6 weeks time. Think I'll reapply.

Noted this curious exclusion, which seems unique.:

'Bonus 60,000 Qantas Points offer is available to new HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card holders who spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within 3 months of account opening. Your account must be current, in good order and not in arrears. Points will ordinarily be credited to your HSBC account within 8 weeks of making the required spend on eligible purchases. Existing HSBC customers transferring from another HSBC credit card or customers who have held a HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card within the last 18 months or HSBC Premier World MasterCard® or HSBC Staff are ineligible for this offer. '

I just got rejected for this card. Called them up and they said their policy is not to explain why. Don't think it is income or assets so I imagine their scorecard puts a pretty big weight on either number of recent applications or credit score.

I also tried to sign up for this card & got rejected, also rang & they wouldn’t discuss, so they have all my details now & wont do the curtesy of discussing. Also sent in a letter of complaint & still got no reply.
Not sure how you meet the criteria.
Combined income of over $150,000+
Own home
Had just the week before bought a $28,000 car for cash
No loans or debts
Government job for life
Enough cash sitting in bank account to cover the maximum credit limit
So my family & I were starting to think that maybe it’s because I’m a mid aged female, can find no other reason, but they lost at least 3 other customers because of it as they were also considering the offer.
